Meaning & History
Means "lion-like, leonine" in Ancient Greek, from ἀντί (anti) meaning "like, equal to" and λέων (leon) meaning "lion". This was the name of one of the fifty (or fifty-one) grandsons of Thespius fathered by Heracles in Greek mythology, his mother being Procris and his twin brother Hippeus. It was also the name of an Ancient Greek author.
