The name Asana is a derivative of Hassan.
In Northern Ghana, it is the name given to the second born of a pair of twin girls. The first born twin is named Fuseina According to superstition, the second twin is considered to be the older twin because it is said that during the trauma of birth, the older twin send the younger twin ahead to make sure the world is safe.
Male versions of the names are Alhassan and Fuseini.
