Avelina Landín Rodríguez (10 November 1919 – 21 February 1991) was a Mexican singer, considered "one of the great and distinctive voices of Mexican bolero music".
This is my first name, I pronounce it Avel-lee-na. When I was younger I used to hate it, but over time I grew to like it a lot more. It's not really your typical name, it's pretty unique, and not very modern either.
There is a wild pig called a javelina. That's all I can think about when I see or hear this name.
I know a 30-something woman named this. Pronounced uh-ve-LEE-nuh in Portuguese.
I don't like this name at all, it sounds way too ancient. Even though I don't like my name very much, when I found out my mom was gonna name me this I felt very glad and happy I had it for my name.
My middle name is Avelina, pronounced like ov-ve-leena (the ov part as in the beginning pronunciation of obvious) but I know people who say it with no accent and pronounce the the beginning just like the letter A, a-ve-leena or ay-ve-leena, but I think is beautiful both ways! ^_^
