Bunny

I had a friend whose dentist was named Bunny, it was her real birth given name, she liked her name and it suited her well! I share this to prove that it can work…on the right person (but I still think it’s best as a nn!).

It’s also the name of Katherine Hepburn's character in Desk Set.

Not a huge fan of this on its own (it has connotations that are a bit too childish for my liking), nor as a nickname for Berenice--it's too far from the original name! I prefer Birdie for that. I think it's cute for a pet or character. As a middle name, I'm not sure; it seems like the kind of name a kid would just be embarrassed about.

Wow, you guys are you not reading what it says? It says that it's a nickname! And it's a really cute one too. Even this site admits that it's not a legal name.

I don't know why people are getting so worked up about the name 'Bunny.' I mean, personally? I like it; it's not super harmful. It *could* be, but that doesn't mean it is. I'm non-binary and I really like this name. It fits me well, but it makes me sad to see so many people hating on it. Maybe it's just me, unable to understand, I don't know, but I don't believe a name can hurt somebody so badly. Again, this is just my opinion, I could be wrong. Have a nice day.

Wayyyyyy too cutesy for anyone. Sure it will sound cute on little girls, but when they turn 18, they’re not going to be taken seriously, with all of the Bunny jokes going on. It’s still a cute nickname. I like rabbits and would consider naming it Rabbit or Bunny if I get one.

Bunny is something you call a cat, or a nickname for your kid, not necessarily a name.

My daughter's middle name is Bunny, her first name is Edith, which I think together are a beautiful name.

My father was kind enough to give me the name Bunny, I hate it. It was awful growing up with the name, the playboy jokes etc were relentless. Guys had expectations and the girls were hateful. It wasn't until I got older and put on a little weight before anyone took me seriously. I had even been asked to go by my middle name once by an employer. I would never name a kid Bunny or any other odd name, it's thoughtless and mean. And no one ever gets it, they always say Bonnie, and booking travel or filling out legal documents is always humorous, I always have to explain that it is indeed my birth given name and not a nick name.

A cute nickname or middle name. Full name? Not so much. Maybe on a character but not your daughter.

Bunny does sound cute, but there is worry to it. If someone named their child this, they might be severely harassed, but this doesn't mean it will happen!

Well my name is Bunnie and it had been for 21 years, lol. My mom was a single southern teen mom and thought I looked like a "chubby bunny" when I was born... so now I'm Bunnie Lynn! But it could be worse, my 18 year old brother is Himbo Ray (I don't know why) and my 5 year old sister is Kittie Kat (she had to be a Kat because I'm a Bunnie) lol

As for living with the name... there two kinds of people in the world, the ones who are gonna call you honey Bunnie, or the ones who will just call you Bonie. It actually starts to sound common after a while.

I see this name as an old lady name-you know, blue hair, cats' eye glasses, floral smock-but a cool old lady, one who was a glamorous flapper in the Twenties and tells you stories of her (shocking) exploits. I don't see it as a stripper name at all. There's the Playboy Bunnies, yes, but they don't get called Bunny. They're called Destiny and Magenta and stuff like that.

I've been acquainted with a few bearers of this name (legal or nickname, I'm unsure). It is interesting, unusual, and yet seemingly dull. I think that it would take the right person to make something like Bunny shine.

My family has always called my brother Bunny. His name is Benjamin Bryan, and he was named after our great-great-great grandfather, who also went by the nickname Bunny. He is just Ben/Benjamin to the rest of the world though, because my parents worried he that he might be mocked by his peers for having a "girly" name. Anyway, he will always be Bunny to me, and because of him, when I hear the name, I think of a smart, kind, funny, athletic, and handsome young man, and not a Playboy Bunny :)

I think it's very cute. I don't think anyone would or does use this as a legal first name. If so, I think it's fine. I have a cousin whose nickname is Bunny because she is as cute as a Bunny. (: I would use this as a first name because I love nicknames as first names.

I think Bunny is super cute as a nickname for Elizabeth, but never EVER as a legal given name. Actually, as a nickname, it is given quite often to prep school girls.

Pff, no. I would never name my kid this! It makes me think of those trashy and ditzy Playboy Bunnies who hang around with Hugh Hefner.

This makes me think of a strange bunny rabbit woman girl hopping. A strange name, yet fitting for some people.

The childish synonym for rabbit has become a name. A real, legal name. Wow. That's going a little overboard. You may like rabbits a lot, but this isn't a name. Please, parents, do NOT name your kid after an animal. It'll look cute when they're little, but they will grow up, and they're going to need something mature to fall back on. And mature is the last thing a name like this is.

I find this name very strange. A bunny is an animal. I don't think that would make a very good name for a child. And imagine Bunny when she's older. Grandma Bunny.

One word: carrots. I mean, it's the cutest name ever for a baby, but a grown woman? Really?

I'm also sick of Bunny being associated with whores! Just because your favorite porn channel uses them, to appease whatever audience that gets off on animals, doesn't mean they own the word. When I hear Bunny, I think of an innocent fluffball, plain and simple. Which is a perfectly suitable theme to have in mind when naming a little girl.

I think most people out there will definitely think of an innocent rabbit whenever they hear this name, just like how you and I imagine one immediately. Bunny is a fine name for a girl in my opinion. :)

This woman will not be taken seriously. It makes me think of a Playboy Bunny, a stripper, or a porn star. This term should be reserved for baby rabbits. It's just way too cutesy. I can't imagine having to going through life as just a Bunny.

It happens to be my nickname, actually, and an animal I identify with. A rabbit's personality is nothing like that of a Playboy Bunny, and the two really should not be associated.
