I think Callahan is alright. A nice, Irish name. It does however sound a bit like a surname.
Never really saw this as a surname but that's because my older brother has it. I like the name, it's very good, but that could also be because it's his name. Also, better than Callaghan, which is sometimes how it's spelt (but people constantly mess that up over the g, even though it's pronounced the same as Callahan).
The name Callahan was given to 83 boys born in the US in 2015.
Dirty harry Callahan, tommy boy Callahan, strong Irish surname. But I have also seen it as a given name. It kinda makes me think that with someone with it as a first name I would be afraid they would get bullied. It sounds rich and snobbish for a first name but as a last family name its perfect.
What a fun name (:
Does come off as sounding too surname-y though, I can definitely see, 'Mr. Callahan.''Officer Callahan' or detective Callahan.
The name Callahan was given to 46 baby boys born in the US in 2012.
I like this name. I've always loved the nickname "Cal" but I hate "Calvin." Callahan, however, is much better and fresher.
I like this as a surname. For some reason it always reminds me of a detective.
I have always liked the sound of this name.
Clint Eastwood played Insp. Harry Callahan in the "Dirty Harry" movies.
