Meaning & History

Means "bright precious stone" in Nahuatl, from chālchiuhtli "precious green or blue stone" and tlanextli "light, radiance", combined with the diminutive or reverential suffix -tzin. This was the name of the first ruler of the Toltecs in Tollan.
