Dalton sounds like the name for a handsome guy. No hate, but I'd date a dude with this name. Also, I'd totally use it for a child as well; Dalton is uncommon and strong. I haven't met many people with this name, and the two I know leave bad impressions. However, there was one Dalton who was the funniest guy I had ever met; he substitutes for those jerks. Regardless, a name doesn't make a person. I think the name Dalton is top tier.
Never heard this name before. It's an okay name I guess.
Dalton is a cool name! I've known 2 in my life and found them annoying, but who cares? The name isn't tainted for me because of them. It's a great name, and that's all that matters.
I'm not sure why but this name makes me think of fast things. Like, fast cars, fast trains etc.
Dalton happens to be my middle name, but as I don't favor it, these opinions won't be very biased.I'm seeing people regard Dalton as a hickish, hillbilly name, and I kind of really agree. Dalton sounds like a perfect kid in the eyes of their traditional military father, and I don't really fit that specification. I don't think it's ugly per se, but it's definitely not me-sounding.

Derived from a surname which means "town located in a valley" in Old English.

The name flows naturally... not like Caden, Jaden, etc. I love this name and it makes me imagine sunlight through the trees.
Nice... Old English meaning Valley Town and has zip to do with hillbillies and the person who is obsessed with hicks and hillbillies says that about every name everytime... guess that's why they shiver so much... with hatred. Sad.
Knew a gorgeous young guy named Dalton and he and the name remind me of the Old West and nada about hillbillies or the South. It's a proud name from Great Britain.
I'm amazed that people can work up so much enthusiasm in either direction for this name. It's so ordinary-sounding to me. I wouldn't ascribe any particular characteristics, socioeconomic or otherwise, to a man named Dalton. He could be anybody.

My sister is using this as a middle name for her son and I don't like it all but I wouldn't tell her that because I don't want to hurt her feelings. I personally just find it ugly, but it is a perfectly fine name for another person.
I named my first son Dalton. He was a very intelligent, handsome, athletic, humorous 17 year old. Dalton was a very well liked boy. He had so many friends and even his friends' parents loved Dalton as well. All people, friends and teachers and let me not forget, football coaches and Dalts many girlfriends, told me how very respectable Dalton was and how much respect and love he accumulated until that one tragic night when he was killed in a car accident.

My son's name is Dalton and most people love the name, because it's not common/cookie cutter. To each their own. Dalton is a wonderful name, and one that my husband and I have chosen for our son. If you go onto the Urban Dictionary to view commentary, it is generally all positive. Also, a name is such a personal thing and can only be chosen by the two people whose opinions matter- the parents.
The name is awesome! Yes I named my son Dalton. And for those of you who think it's horrible and hick-ish and uneducated, my son is an amazing athlete and honour roll student. He is the only one with this name in his school, so it is unique. I didn't jump on the "name" bandwagon.

Why would you name a cute baby Dalton, unless you disliked him.
Too preppy for my taste.
Honestly, I think the negative response to Dalton is not fair. Like if you think of it, there's many good names that were used as last ones, for example Tiffany and Dashiell. This name sounds so cute to me and I can imagine a really cute boy with this name. I also love the fact it reminds me of glee because it's about to end soon so this is a good reminder. Also, only a true glee fan will get this reference. I feel people should lighten up with hate over names because I used to be the same way. But you have to remember a name is chosen from that family's experience and feelings. Also, really, it's not like kids critique their names everyday like we do they're like 'this is my name, so oh well.'
