Personally I wouldn't name my child this, but things could be worse.
Every Darren I've met are annoying and nonsense.
Darren Gee from the City of Liverpool is trying to promote the message of 'Choose a life not a knife'.
I rather like how my name came to be. My full name is Robert DARREN. But back in 1965 when I was born, a singer named Bobby Darren was doing a hit called Mac the Knife. Mom liked pop music 8=) Now I go by Darren because my Dad's name is Robert John and there were just too many Bobs in the house and I did NOT want to be called BJ... LOL.
A good, masculine-sounding name. I like that it is fairly uncommon these days, which helps it stand out better than more common names.
I have a feeling that rather than being of Irish origin (how fashionable it seems to be to assign everything to an Irish origin) I think it might be Welsh. My mother grew up in South Wales, Abertillery/Ebbw Vale, and when I was born in 1961 she found Darren in a book of names and she liked the sound of it.

Looking at an ordnance survey map of the area my mum grew up in there are quite a few named geographical features in the hills around the towns with Darren in their name.

Darren is a nice name. I think I prefer Darrell or Darian as they seem more interesting to me over simple Darren. While I don’t think it’s a girl's name, I know there’s a woman named Daron Nefcy who created Star vs. The Forces of Evil which is a great show.
Darren T. Kimura is an American businessman, inventor, and investor. He is best known as the inventor of Micro Concentrated solar power technology otherwise known as MicroCSP.
From what I've seen, the name Darren seems to be very popular in the UK. (I'm American, for the record.) My uncle spells his name "Darrin," and I know a woman named Daryn Ann; I think she was named after her father, Darren.
My daughter is Darryn (pronounced Dare-ren). I like it for a boy or girl as she is named after her great uncle Darren.
It's not a bad name, but I can't help but think of obnoxious college frat boys when I hear it, though I'm not sure why. Other than that, it's quite a plain and common name, with nothing much good or bad going for it.

I've always kind of liked this name due to the "Bewitched" character. I used to watch that show when I was a kid and I remember feeling sorry for him sometimes when Samantha would create a big mess with her magic.
I've always loved this name! It is very strong, masculine, and handsome-sounding! One of my favorite names ever since I was little. It's an Irish name that means "great".
Pronounced DAH-ren.
Darren Criss plays Harry and also wrote much of the music for "A Very Potter Musical," which has become popular on YouTube. He also plays Josh on the ABC show "Eastwick."
In addition to the anonymous comment above, Darren Criss has since reprised his role as Harry Potter in "A Very Potter Sequel" and is currently playing the character Blaine Anderson on the television show Glee. He is also a singer, songwriter, and musician.
I've only known Darrens that are girls (spelled differently). There's the newscaster Daryn Kagan and I have a girl in my class named Daryn. I've always liked it for a girl spelled Darrin.
Darren Wilson is the name of the drums/vocalist in a band called The Hush Sound (which I love, by the way). I think the name itself is quite nice as well.
Dreadfully trashy in New Zealand. It's a Wayne or Shane kind of name.
Darren is an awesome name for a boy. Very masculine and strong sounding. I have only known older men with this name but recently met a 6 year old with this name and thought wow that is great. I would love to see more young boys with this name.

I have always liked the name Darren. It is strong and handsome sounding.
It's my name. It's fair, I suppose. I don't like the sound; the "ren" ending seems hard. But when it's YOUR name, you have to like it somewhat. ^_^
Famous bearers of this name include Darren Hayes (lead singer with the Australian band Savage Garden) and Darren Shan, the half-vampire protagonist of a series of books in his name.
Darren is the most beautiful male name ever. I love this name, mostly due to Darren Hayes, an amazing singer, who moved me with his songs and wisdom. But anyway, this name is intriguing and cute. Love it!
