Meaning & History

Possibly derived from Greek ἐπί (epi) meaning "on, upon, over" and κέκασμαι (kekasmai) meaning "to surpass, to excel, to shine" (pluperfect κέκαστο (kekasto)). This was the name of multiple women in Greek mythology, including a daughter of Nestor who was supposedly the mother of Homer.
