Singer Erykah Badu is responsible for the creation and popularity of this name. She was born Erica, but she altered the spelling of her first name to incorporate the Egyptian term kah, which she defined as “inner self.” In ancient Egypt, the ka, or “life force,” was one of the three elements of the soul.
Very ridiculous spelling.

Atrocious.
My name is spelled this way and I have had people tell me it is a pretty way to spell it.
This is actually my own name. I used to think it was strange, but I've seen worse spellings in my life, such as Airwrecka (I kid you not). I actually get complimented on my name often.
Woa! Talk about an ugly spelling of a beautiful name!
I like this spelling. But, I think it's best left for Erykah Badu.
What an ugly spelling. I dislike Erykah Badu, and she seems to have a ridiculous reason for changing her name judging by one of the above comments. The H is just superfluous and makes it look even uglier. The spellings Erica, Erika, and even the Polish spelling Eryka are much nicer.
The spelling of this name freaks me out man!
I hadn't even known this was a variation of Erica at first glance. This name looks so neat. I really like the spelling for some reason.
I love this name and its spelling. It's good to get creative with names. Sometimes.
Wow. Just, wow. My name is Erica, and sometimes I like these "modern" spellings, but here it looks like they tried to make Erica or Erika into some type of neo-Arabic name.
Agreed! This spelling is ... just wow.
This name makes me shudder. It looks like somebody was trying to use a real name but wasn't sure how to spell it so they made up their own spelling that completely alienates it from the original name. Its spelling is so weird, it doesn't even make me think of Erica.
I like this spelling better than Erika.
R&B singer Erykah Badu bears this name.
Erykah Badu's original name was Erica, but she changed the spelling because she believed it was her "slave" name.
