Lamya Al-Mugheiry, better known as her mononym Lamya was a Kenyan-born British female dance music singer. She was born in Kenya and was of Omani descent and raised in Sheffield, United Kingdom. A remix of her song "Empires" hit #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 2002.
That is my niece's name, but it`s spelled Lamia. It also can be spelled Lamija, but I don`t like that spelling. Lamya is the best.

Bananarama, I was just going to say the meaning sounds sexual. It's a sweet name, and I'm sure in Arabic/Middle Eastern Culture it's considered beautiful. But if you name your child this in an English-speaking country, the child should be prepared for some merciless teasing if the playground kids find out what her name means.

I know a little girl named Lamya. It is pronounced like it looks: lam-yah. Everyone calls her Lulu for short.
I know a little girl by the name of Limya. This is the way her mother spells her name. It is a very unique name, even though I don't know what the meaning of Limya is. Lamya means "having beautiful dark lips."
