The only context I've ever heard "Maximus" used in is "gluteus Maximus." Why would you name your son that?

I'd use this name for a large dog breed like a Pit, Great Dane, Mastiff etc.

I love my son's name Maximus. I don't call him Max I would have named him only Max if I were going to call him that. I guess this name drastically shot in popularity after the film "Gladiator" was released. It's a Latin name, and sounds very pretentious and out of place in the 21st century. God knows what the appeal of these -ius names is. Cassius and Julius are alright, but I really dislike Maximus and Atticus.
