Meaning & History

From 和み (nagomi), referring to a feeling of calmness and relaxation (compare Nagomu).
It can also be suffixed with a kanji that can be (partially) read as mi, such as 美 meaning "beauty," 実 meaning "seed; fruit," 心 meaning "heart, mind," 水 meaning "water," 海 meaning "sea, ocean" or 笑 meaning "smile." For the first element, it can be split into kanji, a na kanji, like 奈 or 菜 meaning "greens," combined with a kanji that can be voiced to go, such as 心, 香 meaning "fragrance" or 瑚, part of Sango.
