Meaning & History

Possibly from the Nahuatl word meaning "valley of happy waters". Another theory suggests it is a distant derivation of Tarshish, meaning "trading post".

A bearer of this name is Orizoba Spence who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for "Gallantry in Action" during "The Campaign of the Rocky Mesa" in 1870.
