I don't like it. It's missing something. Reminds me of Puerto Rico.
It could be used for any names ending in Rico like Alberico, Frederico, or Roderico.
Allegedly also Portuguese: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_name#Nicknames
Rico is one of the 4 penguins in Madagascar.
The name Rico was given to 107 baby boys born in the US in 2012.
Rico is a tomboyish female character in the Japanese anime and manga series "Gunslinger Girl," set in Italy.
This was used for the name of a female character in Yu Aida's manga (Japanese graphic novel/comic) Gunslinger Girl.
Rico is the villain in Barry Manilow's song Copacabana and movie (same name).
When I hear the name Rico, I think of one of two things. I first think of Rico, one of the penguins from the film Madagascar. He barely says anything, but in a short film about the penguins, he's the crazy one who's obsessed with dynamite and explosions. He's responsible for making me love the word kaboom. "Ka-boom?" "Yes, Rico, kaboom."I also think of Uncle Rico from the hilarious film Napoleon Dynamite. He's basically the uncle who takes care of Napoleon and his brother when their Grandma's in the hospital. He's not very nice, he drives an ugly orange van, has this terrible theme music, and eats steak. Napoleon accuses him of "eating everyone's steak and ruining our lives!" Both of these famous bearers are very funny, in my opinion.
I guess it's a cool name, but I will never be able to get past the fact that it's the name of a company that makes reeds for woodwinds. That would be like naming your kid Vandoren.
I like the name Rico, but I don't like Ricardo, or anything it's short for. I'm not Italian or Spanish. But I don't like Rick, Rickie or Richard.
Rico Suave is a famous bearer!
Rico is also the Spanish word for 'rich.' This is where Puerto Rico got its name: 'rich port.'
