Meaning & History

Popularised by pop singer Kaela Kimura with the release of her third single 'RIRURA RIRUHA', which is also known as 'Real Life Real Heart', in 2005 (there are a few instances of this name being used before the single's release).
This name can also be written with a variety of kanji, combining a ri kanji like 里 meaning "village," 梨 meaning "pear," 莉, part of 茉莉 (matsuri) which refers to the Arabian jasmine, 凛 meaning "cold; dignified" or 璃, part of 琉璃/瑠璃 (ruri) meaning "lapis lazuli," with a ru kanji, such as 瑠, 琉 or 流 meaning "current, flow," and a ha kanji like 葉 meaning "leaf," 花 meaning "flower," 芭, part of 芭蕉 (bashō), referring to the Japanese (fibre) banana, or 心, taken from English heart.

This name is rarely used.
