Had a male classmate called Selby. Cool dude, unique name.
I think Selby is more of a girl’s name than a boy’s name. It’s close to the names Shelby and Shelly. It can still be unisex for those who like feminine names for males! It’s a cute name!
I prefer Shelby. This name is alright, better than some, but it sounds weird.
I don't like this name at all. I just thought I might comment that my best friend pronounces Shelby like this because of her speech impediment, and it's kind of run off on me and I have to correct myself a lot.
This definitely sounds like a feminine name to me, I can't imagine it on males. I think this sounds nicer than Shelby, but the name is still a bit youthful, like pretty much anything ending in the ''ee'' sound, except for maybe French names like Coralie. This sounds more like the name of a 12-year-old than a 30-year-old, but it's not the most infantile name out there. It beats Keeley and Kayley any day.
Cute name for a girl! Better and less used than Shelby!
There's similar Turkish/Arabian name Selbi, which means the name of tree 'weeping willow'.
