Definitely not the best option for a boy but nobody said it was masculine. Anyway, my name allows Sissy as a nickname and I think it’s cute, especially as a sister.
Sissy is a short form of Elizabeth. I know this because I know someone who visits my neighborhood sometimes who has this and she is super nice. I am very surprised by how low the rating of this name is. 36% as of today. I have a synthesizer named Sissy and she is my most beloved object ever. Even though sissy is a not very nice word sometimes, I don't see any problem with it being a name. Plus, it means sister and I think that's pretty nice.
My sister and I call each other Sissy. I really like it personally because it's a special name designated for one other person in the world. My name is actually Sasha so I've considered using Sissy as a nickname for all people but I haven't yet and I'm not sure if I want to because of the meaning it holds for me and my sister.
This is much better as a nickname.
Good nickname for sister but horrible as a real name.
Better as a nickname for sister.
Super cute nickname!
Such a sad name...
My brother who is ten still calls me this since he couldn’t say my name when he was really little. Now, he can say my name just fine and he refuses to call me anything but Sissy even though I want him to stop! My name is not Priscilla, Frances or Cecilia! It’s Claire! Although, my middle name is Elisabeth though.
It’s cruel to name your daughter Sissy. It doesn’t sound that pleasant in my opinion. It’s even worse on a boy, as it refers to a boy that is feminine and scared.
Definitely one of the worst names I can think of.
I don't really like this name. How about Sisel?
I DON'T like this as a diminutive of any name and I DON'T like this as an "affectionate informal nickname" of the word "sister". Sissy is an offensive pejorative term that regards a person as being effeminate and cowardly! ಠ╭╮ಠ.
Male or female, this an insult to one's intelligence-- intentional or otherwise. That is truly all that I have to say regarding "Sissy"... other than I hope that it's usage is strictly regulated to the form of a nickname, if a person insists on it.
Good name for a boy. It's not like they're going to make fun of him, is it?
This is my dogs name so I think you can guess that I wouldn't name my child after my dog but this is a good name for pets, for children you are just asking for them to be bullied.
Sissy is sassy. It works as a nickname for any given name.
It's okay for the right person. I've only seen this name short for Elisabeth, with an 's'.
People think a boy enjoying things associated with girls is weak and terrible. Never mind the fact that our perceptions of what is feminine or masculine evolve greatly, a guy who shows any "girly" trait is sooo terrible. Any girl with this nickname is going to get teased relentlessly.
I hate this as a nickname and especially hate it as a legal name.
No way. This name will equal bullying for life.
Although this insult is only used on boys, it isn't exactly a great thing to call your daughter today. It doesn't sound any nicer than Pansy, although Pansy is worse. Besides, this name is utterly infantile as an official name. I don't really like the sound of it anyway. I MUCH prefer the nickname Celia.
This is something my son calls his sisters if they scream when they see a spider or wasp. I can't think of anyone that would name their child this just for the fact it is basically a slam people so often use. Especially brothers and sisters.
My step sister calls me this name all the time and it is so annoying! I think this name is weird and I don't really like this name. You can boo-hoo all you want to.
