In Ellis Island, this name was often changed to Stanley.
Stasys, a Lithuanian form of Stanislav is, to my knowledge, not mentioned often on this website. I am awed at the process a handful of early European names is transformed into these scores of beautiful names passing through generations of varied cultures, including Stasys.
Lithuanians were said to treasure their lifestyle. During Soviet occupation, they preserved their traditions. Learning Russian by necessity, they could have abandoned the ancient ways of their ancestors to modernize with so many other Eastern European states. Rather, they emerged with the skills to blend yet remain Lithuanian in culture, language, and independence.
Please contribute if you know more on the transformation of the name Stanislav into the Lithuanian May 7th Name Day "Stasys."
"Stan" is (may)be and "slava" is glory, fame. So Stanislav means "to be famous".
