Meaning & History
Allegedly the Hebraization of an Egyptian title which meant "the wife of the king" (from ta "the", hmt "woman, wife", pa "of the" and nsw "king"). Queen Tahpenes was a wife of Pharaoh, according to the Book of Kings in the Old Testament. Tahapanes was also an ancient city of Egypt, otherwise called Daphni (and sometimes ascribed the meaning "thou will fill hands with pity").
