other than the bad association for me...I really don't like this name because it just seems too boring and plain for a child but I think its a cute name for a cat, I knew a really sweet bookstore cat named Martha

Martha is a name I could never get into. I usually don't mind a lot of dated names but Martha just screams 1950's housewife.Martha Josephine
Martha Jacqueline
Martha Christine
Martha Danielle
Martha Louise
Martha Annabelle

I don't care for it. I find it very ugly sounding - sorry. Anyway, I suggest Martha Jean, Martha Anne, and Martha Lynn.

I use to kind of like Martha along time ago, but then my parents and Martha Stewart ruined it for me. My parents always call Martha Stewart Mothra, like as in Godzilla and Mothra. So now everytime I hear the name I think of overly perfect house wives who insist on everything being spick and span and all the food made from scratch. And I think of giant evil Moths.

I like it.I know three women by the name of Martha, one middle-aged and two in their early twenties. One goes by Mattie, which I think is cute too.
