[Opinions] Tatiana
Tatiana is probably my favorite Russian girl name, and I have really liked the sound and history of it for a while.I have a problem making combos with this name though? Any FN or MN ideas for Tatiana? What do you generally think of it?

I haven't decided, do I love or dislike it. Tatiana is a really dualistic name, mostly because it is so nms, and because it has so many meanings to me: Tatiana Larina is one of my favourite characters in Evgeny Onegin, I adore Tatiana Vasilyeva, who is a wonderful theatre actress, I know a few very nice Tanyas. but Tatiana is also a wanna-be-russian-and-royal-name, it sounds a bit snobbish and lowerclass at the same time, I can't explain, why. One of the most terrible soviet songs was about Tatiana (You can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqjsSk6TkAw )... The idea of middle names with Tatiana is a bit weird to me, but I'll try:
Tatiana Bella
Tatiana Norma
Tatiana Margot
Tatiana Sophie
Tatiana Chloe
Tatiana Rut
Tatiana Saskia
Tatiana Dora
Tatiana Vita

I have friends who have a thirteen-year-old daughter named Tatyana, spelled that way. I think it's beautiful, although I prefer the Tatiana spelling. I believe that Tatyana is the more authentically Russian spelling (even though of course Russian uses a different alphabet), or something like that, and that's why they used that spelling. The father is fluent in Russian, so I believe he would know. I know that her grandmother at least often shortens it to "Tatia". I don't know if others also do. Her middle name is Grace. I think that a one-syllable middle name sounds best with it.

I love Tati! It's very elegant and mysterious, in my mind anyway. Tatiana Larissa and Elena Tatiana are my personal fave combos. :-)
