[Opinions] Beryl? (f)
Beryl is growing on me lately. Do you like it? Do you think it is ready for a comeback?
How about the combo Beryl Natalie? (Used it on a name game)
Any other combo ideas?

I don't feel that it is quite ready for a comeback, though I wouldn't think badly of someone who used it.

I'm sorry, but it really reminds me of barrel.

I'm sorry, but this has got to be one of THE most unappealing names I can think of. It's dated, dowdy, and unattractive, like the creepy old lady in the neighborhood who scares the crap out of all the kids. That's the image I have in my head when I hear it.

For some reason, all Beryl makes me think about is Victorian England. Maybe it's because of the Sherlock Holmes story, The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet? Anyhow, it's a nice-sounding, old-timey name, if a bit plain. If it becomes popular, however, it'll be just like a Laura: simple, pretty, but overused.Beryl Natalie flows well, but I don't like the name Natalie much.Combos:
Beryl Hadassah
Beryl Penelope
Beryl Sinclair
Beryl Iris
Beryl Celandine
Beryl Adele
Beryl ScarletOh, and also, one thing: Beryl sounds a bit like Barrel.

I met an early 30's American lady with this name a couple of years back. It's stunning, but I'm not sure I could use it as a first name, personally. It's not as feminine sounding as the names I usually like, I guess.

Someone on here - Wordsmith, I think - posted a list of Beryl combos a while back. (Edit: I wrote that before I realised he's posted a list again!)
The one that made me (and makes me) sit up and take notice was Susanna Beryl. I think it's delightful. But I don't like Beryl enough to use as a fn.

Susanna Beryl is pretty. I think Beryl makes a nice middle name.

Unfortunately this is what this name reminds me of :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beryl_the_Peril but I'm a comic book geek, so maybe not everyone gets this association.
