I was nosing on Facebook and came across someone with a baby named Elsa, she must have been about 1. WDYT of Elsa?
I've never really thought about it - only ever Elsie, as it was my great grandmothers name. WDYT to Elsa nn Elsie?

Elsa, nn Elsie, was my #1 girl's name until Niamh nudged her out of top spot. (Elsa Charlotte, Elsa Catherine and Elsa Caroline were my favorite combos.)
Nn Elsie is darling, spunky and nostalgic. Elsa is musical and elegant, without being long and complicated. And since it's a family name for you, that only adds to the appeal.
I don't see Elsa becoming a top 100 kind of name. But that's a good thing in my book. :-) Elsa is one of those names that when you hear it, you say to yourself, "Elsa! Now why didn't I think of that?"

I like Elsa. It is short and classy. I have known only one, who would be about 40 or 45 now. She was from Mexico, so I don't think of Elsa as having a Germanic feel, as New_Chloe mentioned.
I would think Elsa would have some potential to grow in popularity, because it is similar to Ella and Emma, and of course these are very popular. But then I have thought Ellen would climb for the same reason, and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere fast.

Elsie is cute
I can actually see Elsie climbing a bit. Maybe not hugely, but some. It has such a fresh, pretty sound to it, and seems honest and without airs but has a bit of dust, which is certainly the vogue (in the style of Daisy, Violet, Stella, Lily, etc). Elsa is a little harsher and more Germanic, and seems more of a niche choice (i.e; more attractive to people with German heritage, while Elsie seems more flexible) so I can't see it being a huge favourite.

I don't think that either Elsa or Elsie has a particularly pleasant sound. I prefer Elsa to Elsie, but no, I don't see Elsa becoming popular.

I think it's plain, dated and boring. I know a Elsa who has three sisters: Astrid, Tora and Ragna. I know another Elsa too who has a younger brother named Lukas and two older half-sisters (I grew up with them) named Nicole and Amelie.
I have a hard time seeing Elsie as a "real" name, in that case I prefer Elsa nn Elsie.
