I like both. I think Selah is a bit better than Cecilia because it sounds less pretentious, although I do like Cecilia (and Celia). Selah is also less well-known.

Wonderful choices! :) I love Cecilia, putting aside the meaning. Selah is also cool, unique without being too strange.

I agree about Cecilia. I just adore the name (along with Cecile, Celia & Cecily) but dislike that it means blind. I have often pondered about finding combinations with names that mean "love" or "justice" as in "love is blind" or "blind justice" to make it more of a combined meaning and changing the negative meaning of "blind" alone.

However, I recently found Aracelia which has a similar feel and Selah is very lovely as well.
If you really love a name, and can make a positive association with it you should use it.

I really dislike Cecilia but not because of the meaning, although that isn't so good either. I just really can't stand the sound of Cecilia, especially the "SEEL" sound right in the middle. It's like nails being raked down a chalkboard to me. So squeaky and whiny. Ugh.

I like them both for someone else. Cecilia will forever remind me of the Simon and Garfunkel song. Its a little long for me. I like the sound of Selah more, but it would be too biblical for me to use.

I think the meaning gives it power

I used to love Cecilia and now I'm sort of lukewarm on it. It is a very classy name though, if borne by the right person. Selah is the name of a run-down town in my state so it's very weird as a name to me. Besides that, it reminds me of seagulls, I guess because of the spelling. What about splitting it halfway and going with Celia? It seems like the perfect combination of Cecilia and Selah to me.

I've never been too fond of Cecilia. It's the -cilia part that I don't particularly care for. It's grown on me some, but I still prefer Cecily.

Selah is pretty.

I've always admired the name Cecilia or Cecelia. It is very pretty. But I couldn't commit to using it for my own daughter because I just really didn't like the meaning.
