[Opinions] Diane or Diana?
Do you prefer Diane or Diana? Diana sounds more modern, I guess, but I think it's the one which will sound more dated soon as the 'names ending in -a' trend goes by. I'm pretty sure the -e ending versions will be more fashionable in a few years or a decade. Eve instead of Eva, Adrienne instead of Adriana and so on. Diane was overused in the 50s but I think it could make a comeback. It sounds softer than Diana and more friendly which I like. But I really like Diana too. What do you think?

I greatly prefer Diana, which I think is beautiful and timeless.Diane, for me, is still very dated and I don't think it's nearly as pretty as Diana.

my mum is called "Diane" so I guess I like that best.

Diana. Both of them could shorten to Di, which is, well, dire, but at least everyone can spell and pronounce Diana.

Definitely Diana, it does sound more fresh, but I think I'm biased because I widely prefer names ending with a (with the exception of Eve/Eva). I also really like the spelling Dianna.

DianaI don't think Diana sounds trendy. I think of the goddess Diana and I think it's very classic. And I think of much prettier than Diane

I prefer Diane, but I often prefer the -e version of names to the -a. I've never cared for Diana, in particular. Something about it is hard and brittle, and I guess I still associate it too strongly with Princess Diana--not a positive in my book.

I feel the opposite way; I think Diane sounds more modern and Diana sounds more classical. I guess that there is a trend for -a endings, but there is one for -e endings too: Madeleine, Charlotte, Natalie. Sophia and Amelia are both popular, but so are Sophie and Amelie. Caroline's more popular than Carolina; Melanie's more popular than Melania. Still, though, I get what you're saying. But I feel like Diana's unpopularity will cancel out the trendiness of the -a ending. Diana is, in itself, untrendy. I sure do prefer Eve over Eva, though. But mostly I prefer the -a endings: Anna, Julia, Eliza (over Elise), Louisa.

Personally I prefer Diana. Both are lovely but Diana has a more lyrical quality which I find endearing.

Diana. Feels so much fresher to me.

Diana. Though I am biased.I just find it a lot more elegant and classic. Diane is far too dated for me, and for some reason sounds a bit whiny.

I always prefer -ana/-anna names. They're very pleasing to my ear. Diana.

My mother is Diane so I think that makes me a little biased. She despises the name, though, and goes by Dani. I think I prefer Diana a bit more because it sounds warmer and I love -ana- -anna- names. However, I sincerely hope -e ending does not take over. I really dislike it and much, much, much prefer -a. And I never care about what's fashionable anyway. I just like what I like, trends be damned.

I much prefer Diana - it's classic, and timeless (I similarly prefer Julia to Julie, though I find Julie prettier than Diane). I find the lack of babies named in honour of (or whose parents were inspired by) Princess Diana really curious.
I had a roommate called Dianne - I loathe that spelling.

I prefer Diana. It seems less dated to me. Diane sounds kind of plain to me, but it would be fairly unexpected these days, which could be a good thing.
