[Opinions] Isolde
do you like this name?I always forget about it, but when I think about it I think it's beautiful. Is Susannah Isolde terrible? ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I like it too - a bit Wagnerian, but only a bit!Susannah Isolde isn't terrible, but wouldn't Suzanne Isolde or Suzette Isolde be tidier?

Isolde just makes me think "is old", which isn't a name most women would embrace longterm. And in a combo it seems like a sentence: Susannah is old. :( Sorry.I do really like Susannah though!

ditto!Just what I was going to say. The soundalike is as bad as Dorcas and worse than Beryl - and harder to overlook than Isabel, because for a person to be a bell is nonsense but "is old / older" could actually apply to a person. Even with that aside, it just feels itchy and crooked to me ... I dislike it the same way that I dislike Edna and Agnes and even Ingrid.

I don't really like it. It's a sad name to me (probably because of Tristan and Isolde). I also worked with an Isolde and I kind of did not like her. She was lazy. But I remember thinking it was pretty awesome to meet an Isolde. I prefer Isolde as a middle name and Susannah Isolde is a pretty combo though I pronounce it with two syllables instead of three in that combo. It sounds better.

No, it's a beautiful combo! Isolde is so elegant and sweet.

I'd ban this name if I could! But only because of an "association."

I do really like the name Isolde. I find the name beautiful and melodic.
I'm not a fan of Susannah, but Susannah Isolde does sound nice.

I like it okay. I think visually the Is Old thing does jump out a bit too much but I love the sound. I think it goes well with Susannah. They are very contrasting styles but I like how many different vowel sounds you get and they compliment and flow nicely.

I've never been sure how to pronounce Isolde. Iz-OLD-a? Eye-sold? Eye-Sold-A? Neither one of those sound nice at all to me. Susannah Isolde seems like it would be too hissy to sound good.

I pronounce it Is-OL-de.

so three syllables, right? I kind of like it better that way, although I've been saying it wrong in my head.

Yeah, three.

I've been saying it "iz-old" but I'm not sure that's correct.

If that's right, or even if most people do say it like that, it's even more unattractive: Susannah Is Old.
