[Opinions] Valeska
Stumbled upon this name while looking for middle names for Ingrid and fell in love. It's so dramatic and dark. Technically it's a diminutive, but I think it has more than enough presence to be used as a full name.WDYT of Valeska? The idea of sisters named Valeska and Lenore is currently making me positively gleeful.

Never seen Valeska before. I like it even if it's a diminutive. Also Valeska and Lenore match quite well. I personally like it more than Ingrid.I really like Lenore, it's one of those go to character names for me for npc's or stories I'd make up when I was a kid with my dolls. Teresa and Isabela were other go to doll names for me. Also Emily, Abigail, Elizabeth, Nadine, Nadia, and Eneida. Probably some others that I'm forgetting.

I think it's a beautiful name. The only thing I don't like about it is that it sounds a little like the French word for suitcase (valise).

I see it's actually German, but I want the sisters to be named Valeska and Nadezhda. Val and Nadia. :)Valeska looks pretty cool, but when I say it, my voice involuntarily turns into a overly gutteral fake German/Russian accent. And I can't seem to help it. Boo.

LOL!That cracked me up because it's exactly what I did when I said it to myself, and I can't seem to help it either. I do like it though!

I know a German Valeska in her 40s. I've also seen the combo Fritzi Valeska written down somewhere, which I thought was interesting.

I don't like it. When I was in primary school there was a girl in my class named Valesca (pronounced like Valeska). I remember I disliked her name even as a child. It sounds very harsh.

I'm finding Valeska kind of hard to wrap my mouth around. I keep saying Valexa. And since I keep saying Valexa, it's sounding like a medication. Anyway, I don't know if it's just me that has trouble pronouncing this name, or if it might be more widespread or dialectal. So, I like Valeska in theory but I just can't support it myself in practice. Therefore, I like it better as a middle name. Ingrid Valeska is nice. And I love Lenore :)

I love both Valeska and Lenore! My first association with Valeska is Valeska Surratt, a Vamp who acted in both movies and theatre. She has one of the saddest records of any silent film star, since all her films are lost.

I like it. It's soo much fun to say and it IS dramatic and glossy. For some reason it's registering like more of a word in my mind though- like it could be a noun or adjective or else a brand name. Something to describe something elseValeska seems a bit too flashy next to Lenore though, which is more of a warm cozy sweater of a name. Along the same lines Valeska is more of a fancy fur coat, so they just don't jibe in my mind

Valeska is triggering some kind of deja vu in my mind too...a surname I think? Lenore is another glossy-dramatic name in my mind, but I could see how it could also be seen as a more modest, cozy name, so fair enough there. What kind of femme fatale name would you suggest as a sister to Valeska?
