[Opinions] Elisa or Eliana? (more)
If you had to choose one for a daughter, Elisa or Eliana and why? What do you like/dislike about these two names? Do you think they are too common, frilly, bland, dated? How would you imagine an Elisa and an Eliana? Beautiful, smart, average, blond, brunette, hobbies, parents, age, profession? I am really interested in your overall impressions. Thanks!

Elisa is blonde, fair skin. Probably of Northern European descent. If in the US, she probably comes from a wealthy/cultured family and has access to a lot of resources -- private schools, travel etc.Eliana is brunette or black-haired, fair to dark skin. She probably has Jewish ancestry. She is intelligent, literary, and driven. I've known two Elianas and both fit this description. Neither are girly and pampered as another poster said.I like both of these names but very much prefer Eliana, since any child of mine would be darker featured. I think both are current and lovely. They are feminine, but to me not frilly.

Easy, definitely Eliana. I think it's a really pretty name and I LOVE the meaning. Elisa is just a bit flat, boring and lacklustre to me. I don't really have any preconceived ideas as to what someone with these names would look or act like.

I don't care for either of those names at all. I don't much like any female name beginning with El, especially when shortened to Ellie. Only exception is ElizaElisa I find very bland, the Claire or Sarah of the day. It doesn't stand out at allEliana (in my mind) is the kind of name given by parents who think of their daughter as their 'princess'. The ones who make sure their toddler is dressed in pink, in case anyone takes her for a boy. Or glues a bow to her bald baby head for the same reason. Dad will start posting lists of rules for dating his daughter on facebook once she turns three, with prominent references to his shotgun...

I really don't enjoy Eliana at all. I've never seen or heard it used where I live, so perhaps that's why it seems strange, clumsy and over-ornate, or else like Elaine with typos. I love Eleanor, Elinor and Eloise, but they are as close to Eliana as I want to get.Elisa? Not sure how you'd pronounce it. I'm quite happy with Elise, pronounced either eLEEza or eLEES, but I don't much like Eliza in spite of Ms Doolittle. And I wouldn't actually use any of them. I used Elizabeth as my daughter's mn, and if it had been her fn I suppose she'd have had a nn, but I don't think it would have been any of these.I've got no associations with Eliana. Probably Mediterranean, therefore dark hair and eyes, probably Catholic so mn could well be Maria or a Mary name. And I've got no associations with Elisa either. She'd presumably not have English-speaking parents, but that's the best I can do.

I'd choose Eliana because it seems more fresh to me due to the fact that I've known waaay too many women/girls named Lisa (and that includes a sister, two S-I-L, an ex-wife, and several cousins)! I've also known a few people named Elisa to boot. Finally, Elisa doesn't seem like a full name to me (short form of Elisabeth, Elisabetta). Both are beautiful and elegant. Eliana seems a bit more intriguing and mysterious to me because I've never known anyone with this name. I can picture a variety of looks with these names although I do picture someone definitely attractive, intelligent, and self-possessed.

Eliana.I do like Elisa as well, but I think I might prefer Eliza. I probably wouldn't use it though because it would get mixed up with Elsa and Lisa as they are all pronounced fairly alike where I live.

ElianaElisa feels too much like Lisa with an E tacked on the front but I prefer Elisa to Lisa. I only slightly prefer Eliana so much so that it took me a while to decide.I get a fairly similar vibe from both names. Both Eliana and Elisa are names of girl's with blue eyes and dark hair. Although I can see an Elisa having blonde hair or an Eliana having brown or hazel eyes. The only Elisa I've ever known was very shy except for her few friends. She had blue eyes, very fair freckled skin, and brunette hair. She seemed nice although one of her good friends that I ended up living with for most of a year during college named Jamie told me that Elisa had apparently hated me in high school. I have no idea why! We were always nice to each other and we hardly interacted since she was a year older than me and we never had any classes together. So odd.I have never met an Eliana except possibly in passing. I feel that it is a very pretty name. It reminds me of the name Ariana which I love but wish it wasn't so popular. Eliana I like a little less than Ariana but I like that it is less popular.Truthfully I don't picture anything in particular when I consider their personality except I picture them both being at least slightly shy.

Hi !!!Neither Perrine TTElisa is too common.
I know personally ten Elisa at least. I can imagine a 20s girl with dark brown hair and eyes who study languages or turism business.Eliana is quite dated
I can see it on a 30s or 40s woman. Maybe is for the names sound which reminds me Helios but I imagine a blond-haired Eliana with green eyes. In my mind she lives in Florence or generally in Tuscany. A Eliana could be a teacher at elementary school imo (but it is silly a link between name and work).Byeeeeeeeeee

ElisaI'd choose Elisa. I never liked Eliana, I don't like "ana" names. Don't appeal to me, sound too complex. Elisa is simpler and pretty. Elisa, I would imagine a Swedish girl with big blue eyes, white-blonde hair, loves outdoors and spring is her favorite season. In her early-mind 20s.
