[Opinions] Gabrielle
I'm starting to like the name Gabrielle again- wdyt of it? My one concern is that I don't like any of the nicknames for Gabrielle. Would someone named Gabrielle automatically be called Gabby? Do you know anyone named Gabrielle, and what do they go by? Thank you!

I love, love, LOVE it, and don't think Gabby is inevitable. I don't know any Gabrielles, sorry.

I love Gabrielle (prefer Gabriella). Nns that I'd use are Brie, Abbie, Elle, Ella, Abba, or Abra (knew a girl nn Abra in college; it suited her well).“The longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. I hate the NN Gabby for it.I do however like the NN Bria. I have two characters that use it. There's Artemis Gabriella and Gabriella Marie, both NN Bria.------------------------------------------

I LOVE Gabrielle. It's #2 on our name list (Isabella is #1 for now).
I now three Gabrielle's, and one Gabriella, and none of them have nicknames. One is 40, one is 11 and one is 6. Gabriella is 8, and doesn't have a nickname either.
I think it's a beautiful name, and if you don't want a nickname, don't use one...and she won't either.I have a cousin Katherine who is now 22 and NO ONE has ever called her Kate, Kathy or whatever. She's always just Katherine. If anyone ever says "oh, do they call you Katie" she says "no" and that's the end of it.Good luck!

I don't like Gabrielle just because I automatically picture Gabby as a nn. I don't think you can get away from it.

Gabrielle is a beautiful name! I think Gabby would be the most likely nickname for a Gabrielle. I know a girl named Gabriela who goes by Gabby. It does fit her well, as she's very... gabby!

I also adore the name Gabrielle, but hate the name gabby! I do know one Gabrielle who goes by GiGi, but she'll outgrow that as an Adult. The one nickname I like for Gabrielle is Elle or Ella, but I find that much less beautiful than the full name. Since the nicknames are a problem for me, I reserve just for middle names as it has a beautiful rythm with more first names.

I know a Gabby, whose full name is likely Gabrielle or Gabriella, but really I don't know. As for the name itself, I really dislike it, sorry. I cannot stand Gabrielle. There's no reason for it, I just don't like it at all. Ella, Ellie, and Elle aren't bad nns though, imo.
HannahI will dub my first child Alexander. If you want to know what will occur if my first child is a girl, I will tell you. He will not be a girl.

I love Gabrielle, it's always been a favorite. I do know one that goes by Ellie, but I think Gabby is cute, especially since there will be a lot of Ellies soon. I suppose Brie would work, too. I'd still use it, even if you don't care for the nn's. If you call her Gabrielle at home, chances are that's what she'll go by at school and with friends.Leslie, lucky mommy to Scott (2000), Delaney (2002), and Larissa (2005)
