If you’re asking which one I would prefer, Jasmine hands down. It’s pretty, the name of a lovely flower, appealing spelling and sound, and you have the nickname Jazzy, which I find real cute. I’m not crazy about Jazmin as a spelling or anything else but it’s okay. As to Emerald, ironically enough the only Emerald I ever knew is a boy. I know gemstone names are usually used on girls like Pearl, Ruby, Diamond, so on… But other than that Emerald has a nice sound that can be inviting for any gender. For a girl, I vastly prefer Esmeralda.

WDYTO Diamond on a guy? (I like it ... not so much for a gal. Diamanda for her)

I was never a huge fan of Diamond on a girl. I find it a bit gaudy and bogus. It has a pretty sound though. I have never heard of Diamanda, but it’s a slight improvement. For a guy, I like it. I’m surprised it’s not more popular with the surge of unisex names. It kind of reminds me of Desmond, with is a little more dreary and stoic. Diamond for a boy feels refreshing and cool. I’m thinking Diamond could have the ability to be versatile. But not everybody can have it.

I love them both. I think Emerald is a little bit more - well, I was going to say it was more my style, but I think what I mean is that it hasn't been used a lot in my experience, and so it seems more flexible. Jasmine is a little bit nineties, like Alyssa or Briana. And its image in my mind is similar to that of Kendra or Amber (older) and Jade or Lily (younger). I like its "image" - and it's a longtime favorite of mine - but it's *got* an image, for me, more than Emerald does. So Emerald seems more like a baby-name, to me - a blank slate so to speak. I like it when a name doesn't have an image associated with any people, it makes it seem like it has more positive potential, or something like that. But, Emerald starts like a whole lot like many other recently popular names - Emma, Emily, Emerson, Emilia, Emery, Ember ... and I kinda feel like it is made more boring by that trendy Em-sound. If that were not true, Emerald would be a lot higher on my list.I'd be willing to name a baby either one. I'd probably go with Emerald if I were doing that today, but I might not every day.

Jasmine is good, and I think Emerald is okay.

I like both but I'd be more likely to use Jasmine irl. Emerald is a bit fanciful for a real person.

I like Jasmine

I like Jasmine better than Emerald because it flows better, is lighter and is more naturey and has a beautiful scent. I prefer Esmeralda over Emerald as a name. I also like Jessamine.
