Help[Opinions] Clementine or Dylan
My partner and I are expecting a little girl in October. We both love the name Clementine (After my best friend Clementina who passed away last year) we think it is so cute, vintage, and has many different nicknames and can grow with our child. Dylan, on the other hand, is a girl's name that I absolutely love. It's fierce and feisty while still being charming and unique. I grew up with a typical male's name myself even though I am a female and I loved it. I would love to combine the names but Clementine Dylan and Dylan Clementine don't really flow. The baby's last name will be Brooks if that is any help. For middle names, Clementine Rose but apparently it is the name of a book series. I do not want my daughter to share her name with a series of books. And Dylan Ava sounds nice to me but my partner hates it.

I really cannot endorse Dylan for a girl. And for a boy, it's all Bob to me, which is no bad thing, better than Elvis, but that's not saying much.
If you two really like both of them - Clementine, whose shoes were number nine and is lost and gone for ever - dreadful sorry, Clementine! - then I suggest a second mn. My kids all have three names and it works just fine for them. Clementine Dylan Rose flows well and gives you everything you need.

I tried to come up with names similar to Dylan or not-so-common unisex names.
Delta Clementine Brooks (although Delta and Brooks are both associated with water)
Rowan Clementine Brooks
Della Clementine Brooks
Cody Clementine Brooks
Carson Clementine Brooks
Cade Clementine Brooks
Some of these sound well with the first name and second name switched. I also like the nickname CiCi for the last three.

Clementine is the only good choice, charming, feminine, sweet, and interesting.
Dylan is flat, boring, masculine, and tired.
Clementine Ava would work, or perhaps Clementine Dionne.

Definitely Clementine, as I see Dylan as a male name only and in my opinion, it won’t age well. Clementine Ava would be my choice of combo.

Not a fan of either one truthfully, but Clementine is the better of the two. Dylan is a masculine name in my book and doesn't work for a girl.

I don't think Dylan seems fierce and feisty - which isn't to put it down, I think it's likable - I'm just saying, what a different impression you have from mine. It does seem intelligent and competent, but far from fiery. I feel like it's laid-back and gentle. Airy/watery, vivid but cool, like rain in the forest. Not unique, either - actually very regular - which is neutral, unique and regular names are both good. I don't mind it much as a gal name - I'd expect a Dylan to be a guy but, because it's a surname, it's not particularly "manly," it doesn't make me think "oof! not feminine enough for a gal." It's about like Tyler or Taylor that way.
Anyway if I were going to die and be reincarnated female again this year, and got to choose my name between these two, I'd go with Clementine, even though I don't like that name as much as I like the name Dylan, just generally. I think Clementine just seems more currently appealing, and likely to seem stylish and youthful. Dylan has been fairly popular for guys for quite a while now, 30 years - it'd be sorta like someone born 1990 choosing between being named Daryl, or Phoebe. I'd rather be Phoebe. Even though Daryl would have its appeal too.

Clementine, no contest
I actually don’t care for Clementine at all — the “clem” sound is so unappealing. BUT it’s miles better than Dylan on a girl, which is just so boring. And not even pretty boring like Isabella and Ava, just ugh boring.

Clementine, absolutely. Dylan is dated and very male to me (and sounds ugly).

I don't like either one, at all. But if you put a gun to my head (and I knew for a fact it was loaded) and made me choose, I'd pick Clementine. At least it won't ever be mistaken for a boy, which you might not have minded but the majority of girls with such predominantly male names as Dylan find annoying.
Why I don't like Clementine is that it's cartoonish and more appropriate to a stuffed animal or a cowgirl rag-doll than a real person.
