[Opinions] Gabrielle? WDYT?
Lately I've been loving the name Gabrielle, but I can't stand the nn Gabby. Do you think "Gabrie" could work as a nn? What are some other possible nn's?

I like it, It is actually my dogs name, but only because thats what they named her at the shelter, I hate the nn Gabby also, so I call my dog Brie, another possible nn is Elle, or Ellie.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I prounounce Gabrie like Gaab-ree, instead of gayb-ree. Just hope that clears some things up.

I prefer Gabriella to Gabrielle, but they're boh nice names. I don't think the nickname Gabby is avoidable though. No matter what you call her, eventually, it WILL occur to someone to call her Gabby. The only nicknames I like for either name are Elle/Ella and Brie. Gabrie sounds almost as bad as Gabby to me.

I love Gabrielle, and I agree, I hate the nn Gabby. My absolute favorite nn is Brielle, I think that would work well."I've always liked everybody. I'm not sure everybody likes me."-Johnny DeppI don't see no shine,

You know all those people who think Gabriel is feminine? Well I think the opposite. Gabrielle feels really masculine imo.And I don't like Gabrie at all. It might work, but it isn't cute at all like Ellie or Gabby (has the potential to be), and it isn't pretty at all like Brielle, Ella, etc. Doesn't it suck when you like a name and not its usual nicknames? It's why I love Valentina and Guinivere only in theory :(

I agree... Gabrielle is a beautiful name, but Gabby is not. Gabrie is OK, but a little difficult to say. I also like Elle/Ellie and Bri or Bria. Brielle might work too, but it is nms.

Gabrielle is a very pretty name. I don't really like Gabrie as a nick name. You could consider Brielle, Bree, Ellie, Elle for nick names.

There is also Belle

Gabrie works but I don't particularly like it. I know a little girl who goes by Ellie, and there's also Brie, Brielle, Ella

I don't like Gabby...but I don't think Gabrie would work well, either. It's kind of hard to say (at least with my accent) and is an "r" away from being Gabby, anyway. IMO, it just doesn't feel "natural".How about:
Brielle
Elle
Ella
Ellie
Bree
Gigi
Abby, Abbie
Gaia

I have a cousin named Gabriela, and I like both Gabrielle and Gabriela, but I would never name a child one of those names.
I think you should be creative with nicknames, so Gabrie is fine! I can't think of any other nn's that nobody has posted yet...-SugarCheck Out Blinkyou.com for thousands of custom glitters and layouts

Gabrielle's a beautiful name and I don't even mind Gabby.Sure, Gabrie could work. I think it's really cute. Other nns: Brielle, Brie (reminds me of cheese, though), Elle, Ellie.

I'm actually starting to like this name. I really hated it just a week ago . . . and then I read a book. I always fall in love with character names. Gabby, however, I still hate. Gabrie could definitely work, but imo it's just as bad as Gabby. Other nns could be: Elle, Ellie, Ella, Brielle, etc. I prefer just Gabrielle myself though. Ellie's an okay nn, but I dislike the others.

That is a favorite name of mine!!!
I like the nn Gabrie very much. The nickname Gabe could be very cute, as would Brie, Brielle, or Elle. But like others have said, she will most likely get called Gabby.

I'm not a big Gabrielle fan, not Gabby either. Gabrie could work but it's not terribly attractive sounding, imo. There's also:
Abby
Bri/Brie
Brielle
Elle
Ellie
Ella
Rie
Rielle

I love the name Gabrielle but I also hate the nn Gabby. I know a girl named Gabrielle. Her mom swore when she named her Gabrielle that no one would ever call her Gabby!! Everyone calls her Gabby now, she said it just started in school. I think Gabrie is okay but no matter what you do people will call her Gabby.

Gabrielle is pretty. Gabby will be difficult to avoid. Gabrie doesn't really sound right to me. Some other nn: Gabba, Elle, Ellie, Ella, Bria and my fave, Brie. ***Edited to add that Gabe would also be a cute name, especially if she is kind of a tomboy.***Britney Tamber

Gabe reminds me of the first Gabrielle I ever knew at a time when there were no Gabrielles. She was a transfer student who had a French surname and was a model and she called herself Gabe. She was unlike anyone else at school. That's why I remember her.
