[Opinions] Dylan
How is everyone pronouncing Dylan? Is it like "dillon"? I'm asking because I named my daughter Dylan but we pronounce it like "die-lin." I just want some feedback. I really love her name. It's actually Dylan Milan ("die-lin ma-lahn") i just want some opinions, not that i'll ever change it or anything :)

Like Dillon. As in Bob Dylan, Dylan Thomas and Dylan McKay.

I would say DILL-in. I've never heard Dylan pronounced any other way. I've never known of a girl named Dylan either.

I've always pronounced it DILL-in. But interestingly enough Die-lin is working for me.

Well, since you asked for opinions- please don't take offence to mine.I don't like Dylan used for a girl, because I think it is a very nice name for a boy and want it to stay that way, not become a girls' name.
I also don't agree with the "but we pronounce it..", and that goes for whenever I see that, not just you. A name is pronounced in a certain way, and that can vary between countries/ languages, nothing strange about that or right for anyone to say that one is right and the other wrong. However, when people just take a name and make up their own pronounciation it seriously vexes me.
Dylan is not pronounced Die-lin ( I guess Dillon is phonetically right, it just always looks odd
to me).
To conclude, I would think your daughter is a boy and I would pronounce it "wrong".

Wait, is that die like dead or (German?) die like dee?Because it kinda matters to what I think of it.No, then again, come to think of it, it doesn't. I pronounce it DILL-in (not really DILL-on - hear the distinction?), and whether you're sayin DYE-lin or DEE-lin, neither of those sounds right in my ears. DILL-in mil-AHN, on the other hand, is poetic. And welcome to the board.

I pronounce it the same as you would Dillon. As Starla Roxanne said, I think most people will too.

I'd pronounce Dylan Milan (which I both consider boys' names btw) as: DIL-lun MEE-lahn

Ditto. And both names are too similar in look and sound to one another. Also everyone will pronounce her name like Dillon (as it should be pronounced), and assume upon seeing her name that she's a boy. :-/

I say it like Dillon, everybody I ever knew does too.I did once know a woman whose name was pronounced like you say your daughter's name. Hers was spelled Dilynn, like somebody thought of Diane and wanted to use Lynn instead of Anne.

DILL-onAs an aside, I've never been a huge fan of the name Dylan, but I liked the way Kee from Children of Men said it - DEEL-ahn. So sweet.
