Hmm Cionne and Sionne sound like see-OHN and not see-AHN to me. It was a long AAAAH sound :P
Cianne and Sianne then?
When I see Sionne/Cionne I think Dionne which has the AHN ending and not the OHN that you are describing... I guess that's where the hang up is. Where do you live? Maybe that has something to do with it? Im in the Northeast US.

Dionne has an OHN ending. At least it did in the movie Clueless and she was the only one I ever heard of (oh and Dionne Warwick). I'm probably just explaining it wrong, sorry, but the AHHH in see-AHN sounded different. Sorry, I suck at explaining pronunciations. Cianne is SEE-ann to me.
I wish I could think of an example....Argh. I guess I'll probably go with Cyan and pronounce it SIE-an. I like that too :P

Ok to me those sounds are all identical.
okay. so. I read most of this thread out loud because I am procrastinating and to illustrate the complete baffled-ness that goes through my mind during most of these pronunciation discussions.

apparently Cyan is emphasized on the first syllable! oops
