Clare ....by a mile.Rebekah ... I'm very tired of Rebecca for some reason. SarahRachel -- (my name!) xD The only way that looks right. ;) Katherine ... I also like Catherine and Katharine. Laurie ... though I'm fine with Lori, too. Lori is more Italian.Joanie ... actually prefer Joannie for some reason. Nickname only.Jeannine ... I like the French better. Jeanne ... Actually feminine. ;) And like some else said, Jean vs Jeanne can be pronounced differently, also affecting it. But I do prefer the actual French feminine form.Aubrey
My general reasoning for all these choices is: because it looks better. :P

Clare
Rebecca
Sara
Rachel
Katherine or Kathryn - hard, Katherine seems more "correct" but I have a good friend that spells it Kathryn and therefore it honors her. But one of these two spellings for sure
Lori - wins by default
Joanie or Joni - don't like either, I think they both look bad. Sounds okay but I don't like the look of the name. I like Joan though.
Janine
Jean

Claire or Clare? Clare because it seems more classic and less datedRebecca or Rebekah? Claire or Clare? ClaireRebecca or Rebekah? RebekahSarah or Sara? Now this is an interesting one because I pronounce them differently. Sarah is SAIR-ah while Sara is SAR-rah - as in the "ar" at the end of car.Rachel or Rachael? RachelKatherine or Kathryn? KatherineLaurie or Lori? LaurieJoanie or Joni? Joanie - I'd pronounce Joni like JohnnyJanine or Jeannine? I'd pronounce these slightly different to, the former with a more distinct "ah" like rat or cat, and Jeannine with "eh" like in bread.come to think of it....Jean or Jeanne? JeanAubrey or Aubrie? Claire or Clare? Clare. I don't see the point of using a French spelling and an English pronunciation - same with Isabel versus Isabelle.Rebecca or Rebekah? Rebecca. Rebekah is too close to her biblical roots.Sarah or Sara? Sarah was my grandmother and was very nearly me. Anyway, Sara sounds different - SAHra instead of SAIRa.Rachel or Rachael? In spite of the biblical roots, I prefer Rachael. Rachel looks incomplete, and anyway where I live people would probably guess RAHkh elKatherine or Kathryn? I really dislike the dumbed-down fake glitter of Kathryn. Katherine, then, but I'd prefer Katharine. (We didn't use it, in part because DH and I couldn't agree on a spelling. He's a C man.)Laurie or Lori? Laurie for sure. Lori looks like a rare forest animal.Joanie or Joni? (I've known a Joni and a Joanie) Joni is at least as dumbed-down as Kathryn, so Joanie. But why not Joan?Janine or Jeannine? Assuming they sound pretty much the same, Janine is more clean-cut and stripped-down.

Claire, hands down. Clare is so odd-looking.
Rebecca. Rebekah is too spiky.
Sarah x1000. Sara looks incomplete and strange.
Rachel, Rachael is just unnecessary.
Katherine. Kathryn looks sloppy and dumbed-down (and I say Katherine with three syllables anyway, not two).
Lori as a full name, Laurie as a nickname.
Joni. Joanie makes me want to say Joanne-ee.
Janine, though I'd pronounce them differently (juh-NEEN vs. jee-NEEN).
I pronounce these differently too. Jean is JEEN and Jeanne is either ZHAWN or jee-ANN. Jeanne pronounced like Jean makes no sense to me.
Aubrey (but really, neither)

Claire. Rebecca.Sarah or Sara - both. Rachel.Katherine - Catherine is fine too, but all of the other spellings look off. Laurie. Joanie - neither as a full name however. Jeannine. Jean or Jeanne? I'd pronounce these differently. Aubrey - Aubrie looks illiterate (sorry Queenv's great-niece)

Claire or Clare?
Claire. Clare reminds me of glare ... it feels cold and nasty, like it washes itself with bleach.Rebecca or Rebekah?
I'm used to Rebecca so I probably prefer that, but I think Rebekah has a sort of prettiness about it.Sarah or Sara?
Sara, just because of personal preference. Sarah is more powerful but Sara seems like it has more ... possibilities? That's flakey I know.Rachel or Rachael?
Eh, another one I don't mind either way. I default to spelling it Rachel if I don't know. Rachel seems more down to earth, but I think Rachael has more dimension... eh.Katherine or Kathryn? (Which one of those two, of course there are other variations)
Katherine. I say it the same, so even though it is an established spelling, Kathryn seems like one of those silly phonetic spellings that condescend to tell you how to pronounce a name when you already knew how. Like Kaylub. Laurie or Lori?
Laurie. Lori is turning fifty ... Lori and her sisters Lisa and Tina. I like simplicity but ... Lori does have a sort of groovy vibe ... it's mainly the datedness that makes me not think of Lori as a good baby name. As a grownup name it is okay, nms.Joanie or Joni? (I've known a Joni and a Joanie)

Claire or Clare? Clare, because it's an honoring name for me with this spelling. Rebecca or Rebekah? RebekahSarah or Sara? SarahRachel or Rachael? RachelKatherine or Kathryn? Katherine, but I'll use Kathryn in a combo if it looks better.Laurie & Joanie if they're short for Laura and Joan, Lori and Joni if they're on their own. (I have a cousin Laura, nn Laurie, and one named Lori.)

Janine or Jeannine? JanineJean or Jeanne? Jean. Both American Jeannes I've met insisted Jeanne = Jeanie. Jean is more straightforward. Aubrey or Aubrie? Aubrey

Rachel, cause in my region the other spelling would mean a totally different soundKatherine or Kathryn? Katherine, cause Kathryn is just plain ugly (in my eyes)Laurie or Lori? LaurieJoanie or Joni? JoniJanine or Jeannine? Not really comparable to me, since where I live those are two very different namescome to think of it....Jean or Jeanne? Jeanne (Because I wouldn't give a girl the name Jean because of the French male name)Aubrey or Aubrie? Probably Aubrey, but not too fond of either

Claire or Clare? Claire, because I like its look more. Plus I know a real b named Clare. Rebecca or Rebekah? Rebecca, but I don't mind Rebekah. I know a real wonderful Rebekah. Sarah or Sara? Sarah. Claire or Clare? - I've kinda gone back and forth on this but I think I prefer Claire cause it's just a tad bit prettier. Rebecca or Rebekah?Sarah or Sara?Rachel or Rachael?Katherine or Kathryn? (Which one of those two, of course there are other variations)Laurie or Lori? - Funny story on these two-- my mom's name is Lori. It was a revelation when I saw her birth certificate a few years ago and saw it was spelled Laurie. Apparently when she was born, her mom told her dad her name and her dad filled out the certificate, but gran forgot to tell him how she wanted it spelled! They figured it wasn't an issue though and just spelled it Lori on everything else, including her SS card. It's caused a few problems those rare times she's needed to present a birth certificate and state id to someone but otherwise she'd had surprisingly few issues! Anyway, I always think of that story when we discuss spelling here lol Joanie or Joni? (I've known a Joni and a Joanie)Janine or Jeannine?come to think of it....Jean or Jeanne?Aubrey or Aubrie? Claire or Clare?Claire. Clare looks incomplete.
Rebecca or Rebekah?
Rebecca Rebekah looks kre8yv even though it isn't.
Sarah or Sara?
Sara, but I can't stand it anyway.
Rachel or Rachael?
Rachel, makes more sense pronunciation-wise.
Katherine or Kathryn? (Which one of those two, of course there are other variations)
Katherine, Kathryn looks middle-aged Weight-Watcher shih tzu owner.
Laurie or Lori?
Lori. Laurie and Lori usually sound a little different in my experience anyway.
Joanie or Joni? (I've known a Joni and a Joanie)
Joni, but they both suck.
Janine or Jeannine?
Janine, the e is unnecessary.
come to think of it....Jean or Jeanne?
Both are equally good.
Aubrey or Aubrie? (Got a great-niece named Aubrie and had an acquaintance named Aubrey)
Aubrey, but they are both annoying.
