I'm not a fan of Fern Hildegard. What I mostly hear is "Fern Hill," so it sounds like a suburban subdivision. Alice Hildegard, Agnes Hildegard, and Frances Hildegard are my favorites. I guess I like Hildegard better when preceded by something sibilant.

I love Hildegard(e) and I LOVE Fern, and I like the way it rolls off the tongue, but the combo is a god awful color to me- like baby poopMary Hildegard is my favorite option. It sounds nice, looks nice, and Hildegard it the perfect support column for shy weak plain MarySwitched around, I like Hildegarde Anne for all the same reasons Lucy Hildegard and Hester Hildegarde are nice too

I'd choose Hildegard(e) Lucy or Hildegard Cecile or maybe Hildegard Elinor. If you're going to pick something that impressive, it really deserves top billing. Although having said that, Fern Hildegard is great.

I don't have much to say about making combos with it, but Fern Hildegard does seem like a really nifty combination. It's like a work of art, sorta. Well, I say that tongue-in-cheek but you kwim right?

I'd put her out front. No way should Hildegard be kept in the dark middle name spot like some dirty secret. Strong and bold, that's Hildegard. Besides, Hildy is an adorable nickname, or Hattie. I saw that in a movie once. Hildegard-called-Hattie. I really like:Hildegard Lucy - this has to be my favourite. It makes the name light and aware.
Hildegard Blythe
Hildegard Alice
Hildegard GuinevereI also really enjoy Hester Hildegard. What a gorgeously witchy combo. Fern Hildegard is amazing. So steady and yet interesting. I'd love to know a Fern Hildegard.

Hester Hildegard, good lord, Chloe! That sounds like an angry Flannery O'Connor creation. :)

I've never read any Flannery O'Connor stuff! But now I sure will.

I personally prefer Hilda, as in Hilda Ann or Marion Hilda Blythe. However, as a middle name - it rocks with the full Hildegarde (like the extra e). Fern Hildegarde is very unexpected and spunky, I actually really like it for the mis-match and the ballsy-ness of it. Otherwise, some suggestions:
Dorothy Alice Hildegard
Margaret Hildegarde
Hildegarde Virginia Ruth
Mary Hildegarde
