Workmate's new baby
Alesha welcomed a daughter, Finley Grace. She joins big sister, Charlie (about 10). I really like Finley to go with Charlie, they're the same style and I like both names. I usually prefer Finley on a boy though. As for Grace... is anyone else absolutely sick of Grace as a mn? It's the new Rose... So what do you think of Charlie and Finley Grace?

I like Finley better as a masculine name, but I think that Finley Grace sounds nice. I agree with you that Grace is becoming overused as a middle name, though.I usually don't care for giving girls traditionally masculine names, but I like Charlie for a girl. I prefer it to be a nickname for names like Charlotte or Charlene, but it's okay as a full name, too.

Loathe and detest Charlie and Finley on girls! Both names are all male to me and should stay that way imo. Grace, while filler, is at least feminine.

I really can't stand either name, especially for girls. Charlie is ok as a nn for Charlotte. Something like Finola Grace would have been more feminine and not mistaken as a boy.

I love Finley on a boy, but not as sold on a girl. Finley Grace is okay, though and I sure like Finley a lot better than Charlie.

Charley and Finley sound like two boys.

Finley and Charlie are both horrible for girls. Sure, they're the same style -- horrible. I don't like Charlotte, either, but Charlie would be better if it were a nickname for Charlotte.I agree with you about Grace. I don't mind it as a first name.

I utterly do not understand this trend of masculine names on girls. It's just downright cruel and more people won't get upset until the table is turned and people start giving their sons feminine names.
Like naming a girl "Finley or Riley or Sawyer or Parker etc is "acceptable" but naming a boy like "Sarah, Eliza, Mary, Hannah" and people would get in an uproar.
The worst part is when its an OBVIOUS male name and it's just disrespectful to male names in a sense. I know other people had said that as well-not just me.Charlie is OK for a female ONLY if its a nickname for like Charlotte or charlize or other. Finley: males name no matter what you do; spellings, nicknames, pairings
I don't even care for Finley because I much prefer just "finn" but obviously for a boy.

Finley and Charlie are not girls names. And Grace is overused, especially as a middle name.

Sounds like two boys. And I absolutely hate those names on girls.
Grace is nice though.

Oh man, I was just left a message on the opinions board about just this thing, male names with an -ie/y ending being commandeered for females. I hate Finley on a girl, mostly because I want it to stay a boys names. I don't like unisex names and especially unisex names that were originally meant for one gender over the other. But worse is Charlie. Its okay as a nickname for Charlotte, but sucks on its own. It sounds childish. And yep, you hit the nail on the head about Grace & Rose.

Finley and Charlie are the same style, yes, but they are so not my style that I can't appreciate them at all.Yes I'm very sick of Grace in the mn spot.
