Re: Nameberry's 14 Vintage Baby Girl Names Waiting To Be Discovered
in reply to a message by Elena
1. Delphine- I am not fond of it, but I can see it being potentially used.
2. Etta- It sounds like someone with an accent saying "ate a." That being said I doubt it will get a blast of popularity.
3. Edwina- okay
4. Flossie- too dated. It sounds like someones great-great aunt with flossy white hair.
5. Georgiana- Lovely
6. Ione- I think the current trend favors Iona.
7. Lelia- Dislike it, but it is preferable over Layla or Lola.
8. Lucinda- I actually quite like this name and wouldn't mind seeing it used more.
9. Mamie- Some people call their grandmothers this.
10. Odessa- Alright but I definitely consider it a place name with Odessa, Ukraine and Odessa, Texas.
11. Opal- No, not chic at all.
12. Petra- Not bad
13. Polly- tolerable but a tad cutsie, and it retains the parrot connection.
14. Tillie- I can see it being used in Britain as a nick name for Matilda.
15. Winifred -- I'm not sure why the title of the piece says 14 when there are obviously 15 names listed here.
