Please help me choose a name for my daughter
So I have compiled a list of my favourite girl names. Let me know what you think of the names, any favourites and if you could suggestions for middle names? I'm asking a lot aren't I!!!
I have also gone and starred (***) my absolute favourite names.
I had previously came up with Liesl Charlotte, Cassie Arden (which is definately out as my surname begins with C! Not ideal!) and Poppy Eleanor and Penny Eleanor. I do still quite like Liesl Charlotte and Poppy Eleanor but I think Penny is now definately out.Amelie
***Alice
***Annabel
Arden
Charlotte
Caroline
Elena
Eleanor
***Isla
Isabelle
***Isobel
Juliet
Kiera
Laura
Lux
Louisa
***Liesl (Liesel)
Mia
***Matilda
Molly
***Niamh
***Poppy

Amelie- It's cute and pretty, but doesn't make a huge impact on me.
Alice- I think Alice is a nice, underused classic. I like the Wonderland association.
Annabel- I've been reconsidering this one lately. It's sweet and demure.
Arden- It's a bit harsher than a lot of your other choices, but I do like the unisex quality of it.
Charlotte- It's nice, can't go wrong with it, just not my favorite.
Caroline- I like this one a lot, and even though it's a well-known classic, I don't often hear it.
Elena- I used to like it a lot, but it's fallen on my list, mainly because there are other names I like more.
Eleanor- I love Eleanor. It's cozy, ready for a comeback, and has a lot of nickname choices.
Isla- It's pretty and quite feminine, but I'm tired of it. I don't see it in real life, just often on this website.
Isabelle- I really only like the spelling Isabel, but this would be my second choice. It is quite popular at the moment, but rightly so- it's a nice name.
Isobel- This is my least favorite spelling.
Juliet- Beautiful. I love it. There is a romantic quality to it that's really appealing.
Kiera- I would prefer Kira or Keira.
Laura- Can't go wrong with it. It's grown on me, and I appreciate the timelessness of it.
Lux- This to me doesn't fit in with your other choices. It's rather out-there comparatively. I'm also just not a fan in general, as it doesn't sound very name-like to me.
Louisa- This is homey and summery. Not my favorite, but it's not bad.

I like a lot of names from your list, but I would only go with your absolute favorites for the first names. The combos I would like best are:Alice Eleanor
Annabel (though I prefer Anabel)
Isla Caroline
Isobel Amelie(though I prefer Isabel. This would also be nice as Isobel Amelia)
Matilda Louisa

Pretty nice names, on the whole.I have used Caroline as a fn for a daughter, and Alice for a cat.I like these enough to use as fns: Eleanor, Isobel, Laura.I like these enough to use as mns: Annabel, Juliet, Matilda. Laura Juliet would be very pretty!I know a newborn Poppy Isla! Don't like the name much, but the baby's lovely.I dislike: Amelie (prefer Emily), Arden, Charlotte, Elena (prefer Helen or Eleanor), Kiera, Lux (too soapy), Mia (trite), Molly and Scarlett.

My favorite, by far, is Alice.I intensely, intensely dislike Liesl.Lux and Poppy live in the land of the absurd, sorry. All the others fill some middle ground:Amelie -- don't like much.
Annabel -- OK but trendy.
Arden -- fine on a boy, not so fine on a girl.
Charlotte -- nice.
Caroline -- a solid classic.
Elena -- nice.
Eleanor -- good, solid classic.
Isla -- don't like much. Trendy.
Isabelle -- too popular.
Isobel -- not sure if this is pronounced with a long O. Don't think so, but why muddy the picture? Don't like this.
Juliet -- fine but a bit prissy.
Kiera -- as someone mentioned, another name with pronunciation issues.
Laura -- I like this almost as much as Alice.
Louisa -- a bit prissy but still, a nice one.
Mia -- somewhat insubstantial but OK I suppose.
Matilda -- OK.
Molly -- This was the name of my first stuffed rabbit and I can't shake the association.
Niamh -- Now talk about your pronunciation issues....
Rosalie -- fussy and prissy.
Scarlett -- so-so

Of your starred faves, one of which I think you should use if you can, I like:
Isla, Sophie, Annabel. In that order. I think all the names on your list are good first names, except for Kiera, Lux, and Poppy. (Because Kiera leaves you wondering how it's pronounced (KEER-a? Kee-EHR-a?), Lux seems affected, and Poppy will sound blowsy in 20 years IMO.)I think Liesl Charlotte is a really flowy appealing combination.
Isla Caroline, Sophie Louisa, Laura Scarlett, Arden Juliet

I like many of these. My faves are:Amelie
Alice
Annabel
Caroline
Elena
Eleanor
Isla
Isabelle
Isobel
Juliet
Laura
Louisa
Matilda
Molly
Niamh
Rosalie
SophieIsabelle / Isobel and Sophie are great although popular so they don't appeal to me as much as they once did. Overall, my faves are Caroline, Juliet and Louisa. An idea: Since Matilda is one of your faves, it might be the way to go since it's full of charm and spunk and isn't too common.

I say Juliet or Rosalie. The rest I either don't like (examples: Matilda, Kiera, Laura) or I am neutral about (examples: Alice, Eleanor), or I like but they're too trendy, (examples: Scarlett, Annabel) or I don't like and they're too trendy (examples: Charlotte, Isabelle and Isobel), or I think they are utterly ridiculous (example: Poppy, Lux.)

I favorites from this list are Alice, Eleanor, Kiera, Laura, Louisa and Matilda. I have loved Alice for a long time so that is what I would choose. Liesl Charlotte also stands out to me; it is lovely!
