Zany Names
Names beginning with Z, that is. I did a search some time ago, and, my eyes having passed across Zemfira on my list, I thought I'd ask about the names I picked out.
What do you think? What are your favourite Z names? Have I missed any particular gems?
For girls;
Zaharina
Zahia
Zelda
Zemfira
Zenaida
Zénaïde
Zibiah
Zosia
Zoya
Zuleika
For boys (though I don't find them as exciting);
Zachariah
Zacharias
Zephyr
Thank you kindly.

Zenaida and Zénaïde have long been favorites. If Dh was on board, that would be our top choice for a sister to Clarisse. It just so spunky but elegant I think.
Zosia is also especially pretty. I like it a lot and appreciate how simple yet quirky it is, but manages to have a mainstream and, almost, classic sound.
As for boys, Zacchaeus is my favorite z-name - but I do like Zephyr in sound, and Zacarias in both sound and spelling from your list.

I think all the girls' names are fascinating. Zénaïde & Zoraida particularly appeal.
Others I find fascinating:
Zilpha - fairly well-used in the UK in the 1840s/50s
Zennor - unisex Cornish name, still in use
Zerilda, Zerelda - http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/serilda
Zerlina - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Giovanni
Also good:
Zaynab
Zahir
Zhaleh
Zarathustra
Zoltán
Zohar

Of your Zs, my favorites are Zelda and Zephyr. I also like Zachariah and Zacharias.
My personal favorite "Z" find is Zenoby which I pronounce as "ZEN-o-bee". I came across it several years ago while searching page by page through census records looking for my ancestors who weren't turning up in the index search. There were several families who had the name as a surname but what actually caught my eye was finding several instances of it used as a feminine given name. If you go to Ancestry.com and do a search of census records with nothing but the first name Zenoby, lots of them come up all through the census years, right up to 1940, mostly in the Southern U.S.
Other "Z" names I like...
Zella
Zinnia
Zora
Zoraida
Zebedee
Zebulon
Zane

Zane :-p
Actually, I don't really care for Zane, but I couldn't help myself. ;)
I love Zaharina. Looooooove it. I'm so glad there's someone else who does too! It usually gets a terrible response. I also love Zoya, and Zosia but only as a nickname. Zephyr is pretty cool but not usable as a first name IMO.
Some other ideas:
Zephyrine/Zéphyrine/Zephyrina
Zara (One of my favorites. There's also Zahra and Zahrah but I prefer Zara.)
Zaria
Zofia
Ziva
Zuzanna
Zinovia/Zenobia
Zahara (I know, so Jolie-Pitt but it's so pretty)
Zohar (maybe Zohara too...not sure if that's legit)
Zinnia
Zahir
Zaahir
Zohar (I like this for boys and girls)
Ziv
Zvi

I really like these from your list:
Zelda
Zenaida
Zemfira
Zuleika
Zaharina (Although I prefer Zarina)
I also know a Zoha (Zo-a), and there's someone in my school called Zoya- It does slightly remind me of Soya sauce though.
Some of my favourite Z names are:
Zia
Zenobia
Zenovia
Zopoura
Zella
Zola
Zoraida
But I just like Zephyr and Zephram for boys. They don't excite me as much either.

For a girl, I love Zelda. It's girly without being prissy. I could see a Zelda drinking tea one minute and kicking your pants the next. However, Zaharina is absolutely stunning! How have I never heard of this name until now? If I stew on that name some more, it might surpass Zelda as my favorite girl "Z" name.
For a boy, if I'm being honest here, I love Zerubbabel. I know, I know, but come on. It's not like I'd ever use it, but I am absolutely in love with it. Same goes for Zebedee, I love it but probably can't use it because it's too "out there." I guess the only "Z" name I love for a boy that's even remotely usable is Zebulon, but even that's on shaky ground.

How funny to see you mention it. I was just recently looking at military pension documents for one of my ancestors and one of the people who signed as a character witness for him was named Zerubbabel. I found it interesting that in various spots on the documents the lawyer/clerk wrote Zeruabbel's name out fully, but Zerubabble himself only signed his first initial and surname. That surname happens to also be in our family so I'm wondering if this Zerubbable is some relation. First time I recall hearing the name, though Dad recalled it from the Bible. I thought he was kidding but he wasn't. Zerubbable is fun, but certainly a mouthful and, apparently, tiring to write. :)
That would really be a fabulous name to have in the family tree!
I'd never seen it before, so I just checked to see if there were any births for the UK - and came across a Zerubabbella. :D

Zaharina - not bad
Zahia - nms
Zelda - I honestly used to hate this but it's really been growing on me lately
Zemfira - nms, though I like the separate parts of it, Zem and Fira.
Zenaida - prefer the French version below
Zénaïde - love it!
Zibiah - nms, I think it looks kinda ugly
Zosia - not bad but Zosia Mamet ruins it for me. I really don't like her
Zoya - I want to like it but it's too associated with the nail polish brand to me. Same with Nike and Sephora.
Zuleika - I like it
Zachariah - nms
Zacharias - nmsaa
Zephyr - love it!
My favorite Z names are all all the Zeph- names! There's Zephyr, of course, but then, for the girls there's:
Zephyrine
Zephyra
Zephine
I also like Zophiel, Zendaya, and Zella. Zelia isn't bad, nor Zelie, Zemyna, Zenon, Zivena, Zorya, Zuria, Zvoruna, and Zydrune.
Some of these are in the submitted names section. (http://www.behindthename.com/submit/names/letter/z)
