Re: What do the names you'd choose say about YOU?
in reply to a message by whim
Maisie Catelyn and Arthur William. (Tilly and Holden are very close seconds for the first name spot so I'm giving them an honourable mention).

You clearly like bananas and are good at drawing fish, and you've never been to Gibraltar.

You're young, and close with your family. You have firm ideas about tradition and keeping things calm in the household. You're like... nouveau-conservative. You have a favourite pair of pearl earrings.

British, a Game of Thrones fan, or both. Not too traditional, given the spellings, you're fairly willing to put modernity or whimsy over tradition. The type of person who has fun in understated, whimsical ways, like exploring an old castle and gardens, finger painting with your kids, or wandering through a street food market. Definitely family-oriented, but more devoted to your immediate family than extended. I see you more at home in a smaller town in the countryside than the city, although there may be one or two cities that have a special place in your heart.

I'd assume the person was British, first off. A little snobby, but overall a very nice person. Likes tradition. I also get kind of a Pinterest mom vibe from them together.

I will guess that you are from the UK. You like nicknames, though you will use full names on paper. You are well-read, but not very old. I imagine you went to college, too. You may still be in college. I could see a someone who is a teacher liking these names. I also think that your middle names are honoring, but I cannot decide if it is family or from something you read. In any case, you enjoy things that are cutesy (versus earthy or serious) and color. Sorry my profiling is not more detailed, these names were hard for me... and I may be totally off altogether!

British. Young, but not TOO young. An average couple who likes and appreciates whimsy, but doesn't force it. They are both satisfied with their lives, but are looking for something more, and will always be hungry for new experiences and knowledge. Non-confrontational people who want everything to go smoothly. Teach their kids the value of hard work and compromise.

This is exactly the sort of impression we'd hope to give. Thanks a lot!

I'm a bit unsure because the two names are so different. Maisie and Arthur work well together but Catelyn throws me off.About all I can get from the names are that you're in the UK! Maisie Catelyn makes me think you're a bit lower on the rungs but Arthur William boosts it a bit. You'd sound young, not teen young but in your 20's. Maisie would make me think you're a bit more fun. Arthur makes me think you quite like to read.

I'm surprised so many people think Maisie and Arthur are so different in style, I always seem to lump them together! I suppose Margaret and Arthur or Maisie and Artie make more obvious sets. You're not far off though, we're late 20s and love reading. I'd love to explain where Catelyn comes from but I'll see if I get any more responses first.

A Song of Ice and Fire? :) Do you pronounce it CAT-lyn like they do in the show?

It's not Maisie and Arthur together that threw me off. It was the Catelyn. Maisie and Arthur go great together.

I see. Silly me!

I get entirley different impressions from each name and I'd be surprised if I found the two had been named by the same parents, or, like Ninor said, one parent had had more say in one name than they had in the other. Maisie and Arthur William (which is terribly handsome, by the way) I can kind of see together, but Catelyn throws it off entirely!

I would assume that you were living in the UK, mainly because of Maisie. And I would also assume that one parent had more say in the girls name, and less with the boy, since they are quite different in style. I love Arthur William btw.

yes, we're in Scotland :) I guess my spelling of honourable probably helped you there as well. It might surprise you but one parent (me) has had about 99% say in all of these names.
