Re: Recent ancestor names
in reply to a message by Joiya
I love Conchita. It's so cool.
Don't know how usable it is, but IIWY I'd be tempted to at least make it a middle name.
Concetta feels more awkward to say, for me - I guess I've just had more Spanish than Italian in my life.I like Robert, Charles, Rebecca, Mario, Francesca, Antonina. There aren't really any bad ones there, although Pedro and Mario are a little stereotypey to be usable (ymmv). Probably Salvatore too.Since you mentioned shortening names, I kinda like Lando (LAHN-do not LAND-o) for Orlando. But that's farfetched I guess.Antonina could be Nina, which is cool.Let's say I had to name your kid using these names ... I'd probably pick something like Mariana Conchita or Antonina "Nina" Andrea, and Francisco (alternately Francis) Orlando.

Actually Lando is totally usable, since he is called Lando as a nickname. My husband had to ask him if Lando was his full name or a nickname... that is how we found out it was Orlando. I actually found out when I joking suggested we use Lando Calrissian, Star Wars. Nina is also her nickname. I call her Nona Nina (Grandma Nina). So... that's a decent suggestion too, thanks. Francis Orlando is fantastic.
