Canyon
I would've thought this was a mostly silly and unusable as a name until I met one today. He was probably about 10, and I thought it was really cool. What do you think of Canyon for a boy?
Any combos you can think of that you like?I came up with a few. I feel like it goes particularly well with something Hebrew.
Canyon Avrum
Canyon Balthazar - too epic? :)
Canyon Hazael
Canyon Job
Canyon Owen

I sort of like it, much more than Cannon anyway, but whenever I see it I usually think, "Why not just use Clayton instead?" I don't think it's terrible, though; it could even grow on me.Canyon Balthazar is definitely epic! I like that one. Canyon Saul or Canyon Azarias would also be nice.

I hate this name. It sounds so light and fluffy and redneck. I don't like any combos, and I hate the fact that people are using it. That is all.

I can see that. Maybe I'd feel that way too if that was the sort of boy it was on, but he was more of the yuppie variety.

I've heard of it as a last name, but I don't like it as a first name.

I used to love it, then it fell off my radar. I still like it :)Canyon Job is cool. I can't remember the combo I had for it, but it's a cool name.

I've seen it as well, and thought it was better IRL than on paper. A GP, for me, though. Like Ransom and Talan.Putting it with something as Hebrewy as Avrum or Hazael or Job seems weird in a bad way, to me, but Balthazar and Owen work. Something more familiar, like Gabriel or Raphael, or Zachariah, goes better since Canyon's an English word name. Something like Vincent or Lucius would spiff it up too.

The name is so self-consciously cowboy it only belongs on the smoldering hot millionaire rancher in a cheesy romance novel. Like Ridge or Flint.

Wouldn't a Canyon get teas ed?

I don't see how. Nothing very teasable about a geographic formation, I wouldn't think.

Ok maybe not horrible horrible teasing, but wouldn't he get called Grand Canyon or something?

If a girl had the name, yeah, horrible jokes. Might not be so bad for a boy.

I never thought about Canyon as a name before. It might be kind of cool.
