Benedict wasn’t overly happy when he first found out about Crispin’s sorting into Slytherin four years ago, considering the Gryffindor-Slytherin rivalry et al., but he’s gotten used to it during the past couple of years. It turns out that a lot of Crispin’s new friends are really cool people and act very similarly to most Gryffindors. Who knew that teenagers could be so alike?!
Both the twins and Clara are heading off to Hogwarts this year, and their parents don’t want to think about how quiet it’ll be without them. The girls spent the last few weeks of summer hanging out at Florean Fortescue's ice cream parlor trying to meet other incoming first years and asking anyone and everyone what they think about Hogwarts. They’re excited to learn of course, but they’re a little more interested in being part of the magical world at last.
Calanthe has been the only child to make a lot of muggle friends at school, partially due to her lack of uncontrolled magic. Rhiannon and Lisandra noticed the lack of prominent magic a couple years ago, and have been growing concerned about whether or not she’s a squib (nonmagical person of magical descent).
Benedict’s mom, who had been out of contact with him for a fairly long time, recently turned up in the lives of the Hunter-Normandy family. She’s getting on in years and has decided to become a full time grandmother, much to Rhiannon’s dismay. The older children were very pleased when she gave them all pets to take to school with them.

Crispin’s grandmother took him to get a pet on his fifteenth birthday. Everyone expected him to choose an owl, but he took a toad instead. Apparently he means to start up the trend of bringing toads, but his parents have a hard time believing that will happen. He chose a short word name for the toad, which he says describes it perfectly. Everyone else disagrees.

The twins decided that they didn’t both need an owl, so they asked for one owl and one cat to share. They gave both the owl and the cat nerdy sounding names that are no more than two syllables long.

Saraphina and Petronilla are identical twins with very similar personalities, but they are both their own people. Saraphina is the more confident of the two. She is slightly pushy, and more interested in moving on with life, where Petronilla would rather have things the way they are and not take on responsibilities. Both of them love learning and have read a ton of books during their childhood, but they aren’t as naturally smart as Crispin. Though they both like to dress up and impress others, Saraphina is slightly more of a girly girl than Petronilla. Neither of them play sports. What house do you think they’ll be sorted into? Clara is looking forward to her sorting. She is definitely more headstrong than the twins, and though she is über competitive when she plays Quidditch, she’s a super nice person off the pitch. She inherited her mother’s brains, so she’s positive that she’s right all the time, and likes to brag. Despite her confidence on other subjects, she has no idea what she wants to be when she leaves Hogwarts. What house do you think she’ll be sorted into?
