[Opinions] Avery
My DH & I were talking about names (well, I was actually bombarding him because I was bored) and he mentioned how he liked Avery for a boy. I was surprised, not because I don't like the name but because we had always considered it for a girl & I had no clue that he would even consider it for a boy but now I'm really into it for either gender. WDYT? I think that while it may be more popular for a girl at the moment, it does have enough popularity / past usuage as a boys name that it could work (unlike Madison which was barely used for boys & is considered very girly by most). Possible full names could be, Avery Matthew Cole (for my brothers) or Avery Lorin Georgina (for my mother).

I like Avery on both genders. I admit I prefer it on a girl, but if I were living where it's overused on girls, I'd probably prefer it on a boy too :-)Avery Lorin Georgina is a great combinations - nice names and good flow.Avery Matthew Cole flows well, but I find Matthew very plain and I'm just neutral towards Cole._____________________________________________________________________"You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it true."Elinor

I love Avery for a boy. Not crazy about unisex names on girls in general, especially those that I really like on boys. Like Avery. :b

It's an ok name. I graduated from high school in '04 with a guy named Avery, so it's ALL boy to me.

It was Fern's brother's name in Charlotte's Web. It's cute, but since I associate it (on boys) with him, and he was a brat, I'm not sure I would use it on a boy.
A is for Amy who fell down the stairs, B is for Basil assaulted by bears, C is for Clara who wasted away, D is for Desmond thrown out of a sleigh... !!!!!!!!!! - Tobias, Jesse, Shane, Preston, Maverick, Rebel, Gibson, Shiloh, and Timber

I personally like it better on a boy, but I know a lot of baby girls named Avery. Both combos sound nice, though.

I definitely prefer it as a boy's name, but unfortunately I don't know if I'd ever use it given that the usage is predominantly female -top 100 for girls and not even in the top 200 for boys in the US.I do like both your combos, though.

I like Avery for both sexes. I don't care for the flow of Avery Matthew Cole but I think it sounds better than Avery Cole Matthew. Avery Lorin Georgina is nice.

I love Avery for a boy! Since it is traditonally masculine, it is much better for a boy than a girl in my opinion.

I LOVE the name Avery for a boy. It's one of my favorites. There's absolutely nothing girly about it to me."A guilty conscience needs to confess. A work of art is a confession."- Albert Camus

I really like Avery and much more prefer it for a boy. I actually dislike it on a girl. At one point, for some odd reason, I thought that Avery and Emery would be cute as twin names for boys. It's nice to use namesakes, so I would go with Avery Matthew Cole.I like Lorin as well. If you were to use something similar for a boy, I would go with Loren or Lorne.
