[Opinions] Mara
What do you think of this name? Is it OK to use as a first name or would it be better as a middle name? Also, can you think of any combos?

I think this name is nice as a first and middle name. I don't like the name Tara, but Mara is actually quite nice.

One of my best friends in high school was named Mara. I like the name and think it is better as a first name.I'm trying to remember her middle name. Maybe it was Louise. Mara Louise... something like that.

I think it's lovely. It would be nice as either a fn or mn, but I tend to think of it in the fn position. A similar (maybe just to me) name that I also love is Miriam. The only Mara I know pronounces her name MARE-a, and it's actually short for Marazona (I have no idea where her parents got that one). I also like it by itself or as a nn for Margaret. A long list of ideas:Mara Louise or Mara Louisa
Mara Gabriella
Mara Estrella
Mara Violet or Mara Viola
Mara Lucinda
Mara Hope
Mara Ruth
Mara Noelle
Mara Celeste
Mara Abigail
Mara Eleanor
Mara Faith
Mara June
Mara Lorraine
Mara Rachel
Mara Gwyneth
Mara Sarai
Mara Truth
Mara Evelyn
Mara Elisha
Mara Bronwen
Mara Elspeth
Mara Elisheva

Mara is wonderful and I love it. I'd prefer to use it as a first name, so I could (maybe) have something more fanciful as a middle name.Examples:Mara Celestine
Mara Sibelius
Mara Donatella
Mara Jade (tee hee)
Mara Lorraine
Mara Fantine
Mara Pelagia
Mara Dominga
Mara Christiane
Mara Jane
Mara Chantrea
Mara Caroline
Mara Karima
Mara Justine
Mara Jessie
Mara Eudocia
Mara Luciaeta: Mara is a meaningful word in many languages and cultures. The first thing I'm reminded of is Mara the demon who tempted Siddhartha Gautama. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mara_%28demon%29) I don't think that's something most people would think of, though, and I secretly think it's a pretty cool association. For other associations (and there are rather a lot!) check out the Wiki Mara disambiguation page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mara. Anyway, I like the name a lot.

This name is ok, i would used it as a middle name simply because i cna't help feeling the name is very negative, i supposed like the word marred, broken.
