I don't hate it, but it's nms. My 4 year old daughter has an imaginary sister named Ashley. :)

I like Ashley for a boy, because it's a family name. I can't explain why its been so popular for girls.

I had a foster daughter called Ashleigh which is NMSAA!!!!!
Ashley always reminds me of Gone With The Wind - remember Vivian Leigh yelling "Ashley.... Ashley....." with a southern drawl?!?

It's worn out, outdone, and dated for a girl. But I like the sound of it. I actually do like it for a boy.

I actually love Ashley....for a boy. On a girl it just seems dated and worn out. However, on a boy it sounds refined and classic. It would be so refreshing if there were a swarm of boys named Ashley.

I like it because it's my sister's. xD

When I was growing up, Ashley was a boys' name. It wasn't until the very late 1980s that it arrived here as a name for girls, although it's become very popular since then. Ashleigh and Ashlee are more popular than Ashley for girls, and Ashley still gets used for boys.

Kylie - I was appalled the first time I heard it but now it doesn't bug me. It's just OK.
Jayden - terrible!
Rachel - I do like the way Rachel sounds.
Megan - really, really boring and plain. But I used to like it.
Katie - I do think it's cute as a nn but I know thousands! I think Kate is much more appealing.
Brittany - hate it.
Jessica - annoying. But if there weren't so many I'd probably like it better.

I prefer Ashton, and on a boy.

I like Ashley, but only on a boy. Alas, I live in the U.S., where naming a little boy Ashley would be more problematic than it's worth.

Well seeing as it's my name, I really can't take a hatred towards it.
My middle name is LaVerne, after my dad's mother. Her first name was Miriam, which she hated, so she went by either LaVerne, or Jonesie (a nickname that came from her maiden name, Jones).

I've thought about going by LaVerne, then I realized that it wouldn't fit right with what most people around me are named, but a lot of my family and friends do call me Vern, Vernie, LaVerne. OK enough about that, that's not what you asked, haha.

My parents (I come from a very German family, and I'm about 70% German), especiall my dad, wanted to name me Heidi. His second choice, which my mother liked a bit (she hated Heidi) was Gretchen. My aunts and cousins told them that those were dorky and uncommon and that they couldn't name me that! I don't know how my mom found Ashley, but she really liked it..

I don't mind my name, but I wouldn't mind being named something else. Well, I must say that my name doesn't really remind me of Jello .. though I like Jello ..

I think my name is a name from the 80's/90's (I was born in 1990), and I definitely wouldn't take a liking to it today if I were to be choosing a name for a child. Kind of like Brittany, Tiffany .. probably how Kiley and Madison will be in 20 years or so.

OK so to sum up my entirely too long post (sorry) ..
- I don't see anything wrong with the name, it was just what was popular a decade or two ago.
- No, it doesn't remind me of Jello.
- I DO know of at least 15 to 20 other Ashley's, but that's just the way things are. If someone likes a name, they can name their kid that. I don't really see a problem with using an overly popular name, as long as you choose it because you like it, not because you want to keep up with the trend, although I tend to stick to more classic names, some modern though.
