[Opinions] WDYT of Virginia?
I love this name. It's very elegant, sophisticated and classy but I also hate its nicknames. Especially Ginger. Virginia sounds elegant but ginger just sounds like a spoiled teenager. What should i do? Should i forget Virginia? Or do you have other nn suggestions? And What do you think about this name?
Thank you!

I like Virginia and I prefer Ginny/Ginnie as the nickname.

I like Virginia except I could not come to use it for some reason. She could go by just Virginia or by Ginny. Virginia is a pretty, old fashioned (not in a bad way) name.

I love the name Virginia. I know someone whose middle name is Virginia. She goes by Ginger.

I wouldn't automatically call a Virginia 'Ginger;' in fact, I tend to think of Ginny myself. As for the name, I love it. I met a little Mary Virginia the other day, she was too cute (though the combo is far too old timey for my liking, but it flows well).

A nickname isn't inevitable. If someone calls her Ginger and she dislikes it, then she requests them not to. I know a man called Michael who was called Mike, but disliked it. He goes by Michael always now and no one ever uses a nickname with it. I'm sure it would be the same with Virginia.Or, if you're really unsure you could make Virginia a middle name, it would make a lovely one.

I'd agree that Virginia sounds elegant, sophisticated, and classy. I love the nn Ginny or Gina for Virginia.I don't like it, but I knew a girl who went by Vergie. It was short for Vergidale, but everyone thought it was Virgie and short for Virginia.

I really do like it but I just could never bring myself to use it.Ginger is horrible, I agree. But I don't think that it's a typical nn for Virginia. Ginnie would come to mind before Ginger would. I like it with-out a nn, being as a don't like any of them. You shouldn't forget it, I know a 9-year-old or so who goes by Virginia, no nns. It suprised me at first, but after a while I really started to like the name.Other nn's:
Ginnie / Ginny
Gina
Nia
That's really it.

I think it's a little old-fashioned, but not too bad. I don't hear it too often, and that's a good thing! Ginny is the only other nickname I can think of off the top of my head. You certainly don't have to forget about it if you like it. I've never heard of Ginger as a nn for Virginia. Maybe Nia?
