[Opinions] Callie
I really like Callie at the moment. What do you think?Do you pronounce Cali and Callie the same? Which spelling do you prefer? Do you think the pronunciation of Cali is clear because of California (often shortened to Cali) or will people say KAY-lee?Do you think Cali and Callie work on their own?Do you prefer Cali/Callie or Calista 'Cali', Callista 'Callie'?Calista or Callista?
Calista, Callista or Calliope (Cali, Callie, Callie)?Any other name you can think of that you could use Cali or Callie as a nickname for? Something more obvious than Caroline 'Cali', please, preferably something that starts with -cal or has -cal in it.

I would pronounce both Cali and Callie as KA-lee, with a stressed "short 'a' sound."I think Callie is cute, but only as a nickname. Definitely prefer Callie to Cali, and prefer the double 'l'.Callista is gorgeous, but I prefer Calliope over all the others. Calpurnia is also nice, though.

I think it's cute... as a nn. It's too insubstantial and cutesy for me as a full given name.No. Cali I say with a short sound instead of a long -ee...hard to explain but it's like Cah-lih instead of Cah-lee...if that makes sense.No. See above. But they work better on an adult than Mackinzy or Brylynn.Calista nn Cali/Callie (nn spellings can go any way, I feel)Calista. The 2nd L seems redundant and looks messy.
Calista, although I don't mind Calliope.I'd use Calanthe personally. Love it :) Thats the only Cal- name I like enough to use.

I do pronounce Cali and Callie the same though I prefer the Callie spelling, I think most people will pronounce Cali as KAH-lee, the second thought I got with Cali was not KAY-lee but kah-LIE - which doesn't make much sense but is just me.
I think Callie works on it's own but not Cali, it looks incomplete imo.
I prefer just Callie not Callista "Callie" but if I had to chose between a spelling I would chose Calista.Calais (KAL-ay)
Calandra
Calantha / Calanthe
Calico
Callidora
Callisa
Calpurnia

I think Callie is great - as a nickname.I'd pronounce Cali and Callie the same. I prefer Callie to Cali.Yeah, they could, I think.Of the three, Callista "Callie"Callista over Calista.Callista over the other two.Pascaline?

I would say Cali and Callie the same. However; I think that while Callie works on its own Cali looks too abbreviated to be a full name. Calista (this spelling) is probably my favorite full name for Callie/Cali. Some others:
Calanthe
Camilla
Camille
Camellia
Catalina
Charlotte
Micaela
Pascaline

I think Callie is a cute nn. Can it work on its own? Probably. I think it really benefits from a longer name, though, if for no other reason than it's extremely similar to a couple very common names like Kaylee, Kylie, and Allie. A more distinctive fn would help her not blend into the pack so much. Calandra
Calanthe
Calixta
Calla
Caledonia
Pascale

I think Callie is a nice nickname, but I don't like it as a given name. I think there might be some prn issues with Cali, but I don't think it would be that bad, I think both would work just fine.
I can't really decide between Calista or Callista, I change my mind every second. But I've loved Calliope "Callie" for a couple of months now, so that would be my pick.

Calpurnia!I had a post about Calpurnia that wasn't too favored but I still love the name and I would name a daughter Calpurnia nn Callie, I think that would be really cute. I knew a Caleigh when I was like 8-10 so that spelling looks more "right" to me than Callie even though it's kind of one of those creative alternatives for "-lee" names. Callie looks like of nickname-ish to me, though it could work as a first name.I pronounce Cali and Callie the same, I don't think many people would say Kaylee for either of them. I think Calista nn Callie is the cutest out of those (or I guess Cali but I like Calista and Callie more)

I like Callie as a nn. It reminds me of my cousin Callie. It also reminds me of Laura Ingalls Wilder. I think it only happens once or twice in the books but I remember Pa called his wife Callie. I remember thinking it was weird since he usually called her Caroline or Ma and because I at first thought it was a misprint of Carrie since that was Laura's sister nn. But I could be misremembering, it has been so long since I read the books. Or it could have actually been a misprint of Carrie. It is my first instinct to pronounce Callie and Cali the same. Pronouncing Cali as KAY-lee would seem odd to me.I only like Callie / Cali as a nn. But I don't mind nn's like Callie as mn's though. I know it's very vintage to use nn's as full names like Nell or Nellie for example. I like a lot of vintage names but I almost never like nn's as names. I'm certain Callie can work on its own as a name, I just personally don't like it.Out of your choices I like Callista "Callie", but my favorite is Callisto "Callie".I prefer Callista over Calista. Calista just looks off to me.I prefer Callista over Calliope.I recently met a girl named Kallisti but you could spell it Callisti. The name is connected to the Apple of Discord. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_of_Discord#.22To_the_Fairest.22

Oh that must be why it's listed as a nickname for Caroline on this site! Calantha is pretty it could be an alternative for Samantha which is really common right now.

I forgot to mention that my cousin Callie her first name is actually Caroline.I need to reread those books and make certain that I am right. Plus I should just reread them since I really did love them when I read them in middle school. But I found this: http://www.cslib.org/nickname.htm It lists Callie as a 18th or 19th century American nn for Caroline. I think it has been used a nn for Caroline for a long time. I can't find anything else about its origins as a nn for Caroline.I really like this list, it has some interesting nn's that I've never seen before.

Cali could only rhyme Sally or volley, and because of California being called Cali, it wouldn't occur to me to pronounce it like volley. I'd have to be instructed. I don't think that a nn for Calista would need to be spelled Cali. I'd make it Callie. The way there's a K in Vicki but not in Victoria.Callie works on its own, but I would not want a name like that.I'd rather see/be Callista nn Callie. Or Calista nn Callie.Calista or Callista? I don't like this question ;-) Either. I think Calista's prettier, but I'd probably choose to use or be Callista because it looks more authentic and less glammy to me.I hate Calliope, ugh. No. Anyway, the nick for that should be Lye or Peepee or Lypi or Clype.Pascale or Pascalra = Callie.Callista could also be nicknamed Lissy, Liss etc.

Calla, like the flower?I don't think Callie does or even should work on its own. Cali doesn't happen where I live, so it just looks odd to me. And I can't see the point of having Callista moult an L. Calliope is too noisy to be a name.

Calista is the original. Well, at least according to this site. Callie is nice, thanks!

I can't make sense of Calista. Especially when the Greek original clearly has LL. But it's not used as a name where I live, or I've certainly never seen it, so what do I know?

Callie is nice. I pronounce it the same as Cali. I don't know what other people would do.Callie can work on its own, but Cali doesn't.I prefer Callista "Callie" and Callista.
